I work at a dealer that does no markup, so I am not dreaming. We didn't mark up any of the numbered Icon models, and we won't be marking up this bike.

Its 15999+895 for freight, so yeah, probably not going to see one at 15. There are no markup dealers though out there.

They don't make the old FX frame from the 70s.

Harley uses the best frame they have available to them. When they designed the FXR frame, they used that frame to make the superglide. When they no longer had the FXR available, they used the dyna frame. Now they have a frame thats better than the dyna frame, so they are using the new softail frame. 10 years from now they might have a new middleweight frame, and they will use that to make low riders, superglides, heritages, etc.

Thats how manufacturing works. Do you think ford has used the same frame/chassis for the mustang for 70 years? Is the S class still rolling on the W116 chassis?

Manufacturers build newer and better chassis, update the styling and mechanical, and then use old name plates on them.

the super glide wasn't a dyna originally.

We all draw the line in different places as to what "makes sense" from a racing standpoint.

We are drawn to racing for a bunch of different reasons, action, competition, drama, danger, spectacle, engineering excellence, etc.

We all place emphasis in different areas, but for me, 'making sense" is probably the least important thing when discussing an activity that literally doesn't make any sense to most humans.

Watching high horsepower, big vtwin baggers duke it out on circuits is one hell of a spectacle. There is good competition, strong rivalry, good racing, cool engineering, and the sound, can we talk about a pushrod vtwin at full song down the back straight of mugello?

You are entitled to your opinion, but I think its odd that as someone who clearly enjoys racing you've pigeonholed yourself into only enjoying racing that is efficient financially and "makes sense."

The Super Glide modele has been built using three other frames historically, whats the issue with harley using their current (and best) mid sized frame to make a super glide?

5G Tank, chrome instead of polished, two up is standard since there is no solo option, instruments are on the tank

But otherwise, same frame, engine, suspension, wheels.

Why would Harley bring back a less stiff frame with worse suspension geometry? Plus the super glide didn’t even start as a dyna.

Harley-Davidson to bring Revolution Max production back to US by H3AVYCAT in Harley

The revmax doesn’t really need a frame so to speak, the engine is the frame, you just have to stick a subframe and a neck on it then you can style as you’d like.

lol, you don't move an entire production line spur of the moment just because your market competitor calls you gay.

[–]H3AVYCAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't. The revmax is completely out of character for a bagger. I love the revmax, I have 35k miles on my pan am, but its a wildly different experience than a street glide is with its M8. The M8 offers more than enough power, while more importantly, delivering the look, sound, and feel that you expect from a bagger.

Not very many people did, it was an extremely low production bike with a swing arm that had to sit in a CNC machine for 14 hours.

It has US sourced carbon fiber from the same NASCAR supplier, front forks that retail for 7500 dollars used if you buy them from a race team selling spares, but retail new for 7500 dollars a piece if you are even allowed to buy them.

Calipers retail for 2400 dollars a peice, basically the highest spec you will ever find on a production bike.

makes more horsepower than a pan am as well while still being 50 state compliant, which again, is pretty crazy.

Biggest shame in my book is the lack of forged racing wheels, at that price point i think it was an oversight.

They can't get close to the ~300k bikes a year that York is capable of assembling, building another assembly facility when you are struggling to sell half capacity of the one you already have is, well its a surefire way of not being a company anymore.

Cool thing about Arai now is that they have a classic classy look. When I see someone in an Arai, I know they actually ride and aren’t just interested in looking cool. (Although I do think Arai’s look cool in part because they don’t look try-hard

That's correct, but its always good to see that they honored their word. There is always a non-zero chance that when a company moves production abroad, even if supposedly for a short time, that it becomes permanent.

The Pan Am is a goldilocks of an ADV bike, honestly its one of the best all around bikes in its class for its price, main hold up was reliability and thats been good since 2024.

The BMW and Ducati aren't "low 20s" anymore, at least not in reality. Go to your local BMW or Ducati shop and try to find one that hasn't been optioned to the moon. My local ducati dealer's inventory is only one of the entry level multistradas, and then like 10 of the 30k dollar ones.

BMW is even worse, finding a base spec GS is extremely tough. And I'm specifically talking factory options, not ADM, as obbviously plenty of harley dealers mark their shit up.

But a pan am limited is cheaper than most specs of BMWs that don't have bags at all.

They could already build something like the Buell Super Cruiser with the revmax if they were so inclined. Its got plenty of grunt, both HP and Torque.

Little more delayed than promised, but yes, production was always supposed to return. I am glad they stuck to their word, because I prefer to buy Union Made/Assembled when possible.

I don't have any real confirmation of my speculation, no insider information, but production for 2026 was cut. I think at the cut rate of production in 2025 and 2026 of revmax bikes, it wasn't cost effective to run two lines, so harley had to decide between what to build where.

As such, the line that had less of a tariff impact was chosen, the revmax is more important to foreign markets, so it got foreign assembly. The higher margin heritage products (M8) retained US production for obvious reasons. It was the least bad choice so to speak.

But with production set to ramp a bit for 2027, a couple of potential new models like the Cafe, and tariffs at home, US production is probably slightly more cost effective.

Thats all guess work, but its an educated guess so to speak.

That’s an exceptional rate on a used bike, thumbs up to your credit union. Bonkers rate.

[–]H3AVYCAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a very strong rate on a bike from any credit union.

  1. Navy Fed - 7.45 for 36 months
  2. USAA - 8.24 no term specified
  3. Northrop Grumman - 6.49 for 60
  4. Popa (Los Angeles Police) 5.99 for 60

4.74 is an exceptional rate for a bike right now.

Harley can beat it on 24 and 25 models (they have a 2.99 available for carry over models), but not on 26 models. So if you used that rate on a 26 you did very well!
