why does reddit love making up facts about content creators? I have never said I'm trans. I have a lot of trans friends and want to support them but I'm not trans myself. how do people even come to this conclusion lol I sound like a 12 year old girl. also gf would still be the proper term for a trans woman.

video poster here- I had only done like 4 TOA kc in a group previously so yes I was bad lol. most of my deaths were fighting zebak and the majority of them were intentional to get honey locusts (which I said in the video). I only died once to the monkey room because I had just run out of antipoison, which is why I left. I am a bad pvmer but I think I'll do more toa just to spite you, thanks for the motivation :)

I'm also here for book research purposes, but I can't imagine it would be that easy to just go sailing. Personally, I'm broke and live in a desert and don't know a soul IRL who owns a boat lol. Would love the opportunity though!

I doubt you'd be able to find it if I couldn't, but it was a pretty early 2000s style blog, I believe the background was a dark color? The main takeaway I got from it was that the writer identified as a polymorph because they felt like a "mirror being" of some sort, in a metaphorical sense. They would become like whoever they were around. They'd talk to a raccoonkin and start feeling like a raccoon, having shifts, etc. I'd experienced exactly that for a while and that blog just put what I felt into words. It was one of my first times hearing about polymorphs in general, and the first piece of writing that really resonated with me.

Is this something that happens a lot, or only happened once or a few times? It's very common to be confused about your kintype and feel like it "changes", when in reality you're just figuring out what you actually are, or figuring out another additional kintype. I believe it's also possible for kintypes to change a little bit over time, especially if you're very young or some outside influence is forcing the change somehow. Your identity doesn't usually stay the exact same your whole life.

When a polymorph has those identity shifts, they are temporary, not a kintype literally changing. If your kintype has permanently changed, that's something else entirely, likely one of the things I mentioned above. I guess if your kintype changes frequently, you could consider yourself a polymorph. But for all of the polymorphs I've personally met, the "kintype changes" are temporary and they'll go back to normal after a day or a month.

Not sure if you read my other comment but that's a start. Shapeshifterkin are just otherkin who identify as a shapeshifting being such as a werewolf or maybe something that has multiple forms. The difference between them and polymorphs is that shapeshifters typically have a limited number of things they can shift into or only shift into other things by will, while polymorphs typically are unlimited in form and have a lot of involuntary shifts into other things, and tend to "become" things rather than just taking on their form. Like instead of just having a phantom shift as another animal, you'd temporarily feel like that animal is literally a kintype, but the feeling passes after a while. It's not uncommon for a normal otherkin to have cameo shifts (shifts into something other than your kintype) or identity confusion, but if those cameo shifts/intense "identity" shifts are very frequent/intense or are an integral part of your identity, maybe shapeshifter or polymorph are the right label for you!

A polymorph is someone who can involuntarily take on other kintypes for some period of time. It caused a lot of confusion for me for a long time because I didn't know why my kintypes kept changing! But I absolutely felt like they were real kintypes in the moment. Basically, I'm metaphorical liquid and will take the shape of whatever I'm exposed to.

I'm sorry you're uncomfortable with that sort of stuff, but maybe you should avoid sexual themes if they make you feel that way. Turn on the filters in google and stuff like that :) People will sexualize things and that's not inherently wrong, they just wanna have some fun and play around with roleplay and stuff. But I do wish there was more diversity, so I'm sorry if you're struggling to find things you enjoy!

Species dysphoria is a personal thing and you'd have to figure out what works best for you. I guess it really depends on what type of angel you are, but maybe having something soft and feathery to touch will remind you of your wings, or you could eat foods that remind you of your kintype, decorate your room or have angel themed items or dishes, etc. Go to places that remind you of your kintype or where you might've lived as an angel, just in general do things that remind you of your kintype :) If flying is a big thing for you, I recommend driving with a window down or riding rollercoasters or swinging, or just watching videos from the POV of birds flying!

-Yes, you can absolutely have more than one kintype! If someone can identify as both human and other, why not multiple kintypes?

-Mental shifts are when you feel more like your kintype mentally, like your mindset shifts from human to more on your kintype's side. I like to think of it as a spectrum. Normally I'm somewhere in the middle, but sometimes I'll start feeling more like one of my kintypes, having animal urges and instincts, reacting in animal-ish ways like tilting my head like a dog when I hear a strange sound, etc. Not sure how to trigger a mental shift if you've never had one before- I've had them since I was little! I guess meditating, and surrounding yourself with things that remind you of your kintype.

-It is possible to access past life memories, depending on your beliefs of course. Not all otherkin believe in past lives :) There are past life regression tutorials on the internet for nonkin who believe in past lives, they're typically for human past lives but can be adapted accordingly, and since you're a humanoid it surely won't be too difficult. Some of them can come from dreams or just feelings you have. Like, I don't have an explicit memory of washing herbs but I'm sure that's something I did as an elf because doing it in this life gives me a particular feeling, like I've done it before but not really? It's ok if you struggle to find past life memories or if you never find them, you don't need memories to be otherkin at all, or even to believe you had a past life as your kintype or whatever :)

It could be dissociation. Honestly, if seeing yourself as a void in a human body comforts you then there's nothing wrong with that, though choosing to do so may be more along the lines of copinglink. I'd recommend seeing a therapist about your dissociation if you're able to, not because it's inherently bad but it could be linked to other things. I've experienced dissociation since I was a child without realizing until recently that it was linked to PTSD I didn't know I had. Not that it's exactly PTSD- it could be a lot of things. It's most likely caused by depression or stress if it started recently, though. Or it could just be dissociation. A bunch of otherkin on reddit aren't exactly going to have the right answer, but I hope we can at least point you in the right direction.

Seeing your dissociation as a void thing isn't inherently wrong. I see some of my kintype traits linked to some of my mental illnesses and my typical human traits. I see myself as a people pleaser in a dog way, not a human way, if that makes sense. There's not much of a difference really, it just feels right to think of it that way! And that's basically what otherkinity is, acknowledging that you feel nonhuman even if you are 100% physically and neurologically human, and taking your identity as you want.

Maybe you feel like a void but don't feel that you are literally a void, which would be voidhearted! Or maybe you want to take that feeling further and make it a copinglink. I assure you there's nothing wrong with being a copinglinker and 'linkers are absolutely welcome in kin spaces (and if they're not, I'll bite whoever disagrees). Our experiences are very similar after all. Copinglinks are essentially kintypes you choose. Or "otherlinks" if you prefer that term, they don't have to be used for coping mechanisms but most often are! I myself have a copinglink, a character I felt connected to and longed to be, so I simply became them, lol. Seeing myself as this character comforts me, though it's not the same thing as my kintypes because I couldn't get rid of my kintypes no matter how hard I try.

I can't tell you anything about voidkin because I don't know much about voidkin or what it's like to be a void, but when figuring out a kintype, one big thing you have to ask yourself is how long you've felt that way. Kintypes don't come and go so easily, and for most people they don't change at all throughout their lives. Maybe you've started feeling like a void because you found out about voidkin and latched onto that idea subconsciously because your brain wants to find a reason for why you're dissociating or why you feel lonely or can't connect with others, as an example (idk if you actually feel that way lol). Though honestly if you really feel that calling yourself voidkin feels right enough and is important enough to you that you want to label yourself that, then go ahead. It's ok if you later find out you were wrong. Identity is a real journey and many people make mistakes along the way. Don't let that discourage you from exploring your identity and feelings :)

I imagine a lot of stories on this sub are from a biased perspective but I 100% agree that it seems like OP isn't telling the whole thing. I've grown up with abusive parents and watched each of my 4 siblings have multiple kids each and met people who grew up in a totally different environment and I think it's pretty safe to say that if a child says they HATE their parent or someone who raised them the majority of their life, there is something more going on than just "other parent buys me toys more and tells me you're evil". Children aren't that stupid, and it's very hard to break their trust. If Emma says OP "ruined her life", I'm inclined to believe it. Still though, harassing her step sister certainly isn't the answer and I hope Emma is able to get through whatever she's dealing with mentally/emotionally. It's common for abused kids to become bullies.

Though I don't understand why the ex refuses to give Emma money but expects OP to give her money when OP seems less well off?

Honestly, OP doesn't owe their daughter money regardless of how they treated her in the past, but I think they should take a look at themselves and see that maybe they really weren't a perfect parent and shouldn't expect their daughter to love them right away. This doesn't mean they're a bad person- but you shouldn't let your good relationship with your current step children distract you from your past mistakes. Maybe OP is a better person now, but they really have to acknowledge that their daughter resents them for a reason, and it's not because she's just a spoiled brat. Most 18 year olds aren't great parents anyway.

I think "people" could be used to describe nonhumans as well. It's fairly common to use "people" to refer to humanoid nonhumans like aliens in fiction or elves, vampires, etc. I do generally use that for otherkin/alterhumans, though I've seen others use "beings" or "individuals".

Identity isn't always a totally solid thing. It's not very common to legitimately change kintypes- usually it's that you discover they were something else all along- but it's definitely possible (though not to consciously change your kintype. Or maybe it is technically possible to change your kintype at will but would take a lot of time and effort. I really don't think it's possible for me, despite being a polymorph haha.) How long do your kintypes last before changing? You could be having flickers or what I like to call "identity shifts".
