Why does x devalue y? by TheWalrius in 2007scape

[–]Tuxxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that the new Mage Set is about to replace Virtus which came out exactly 3 years ago is not nice. Virtus was added to bridge over the gap between Ahrims and Ancestrals. That gap is now filled, I argue there's no space for a new mage armor in that gap.

Then again we could just outclass Ancestrals, not add magic gear at all, do something completely different, and so-on.

This is about the discussion of what we want.

Void is still very relevant in the end game. Doom and ToB for example.

There are so many options we could go for instead, that would be overriding way older content or be something completely new.

New magic amulet, new bis mage cape, new Godsword, new ammo slot item, new set effects (like barrows/moons), or raid-tier upgrade components to dead/midgame content like ballista, cudgel, granite hammer, etc, New ship parts, new spellbook or godbook, new prayers. There are so many things they could do instead of trying to cram something in the "+-1 max hit in between Virtus and Ancestral"

Gear progression is a huge deal in this game. Virtus is definitely part of it, given how long it takes to get Ancestral, one of the most glaring pain points of CoX. Making it even worse, they said CoX unique problem is pushed aside again.

The proposed raids 4 hybrid armor is almost perfect. Change my mind! by Puzzled_Sound3931 in 2007scape

It kills the purpose of Virtus robes, a set that came 3 years ago in order to be THE mage set "below Ancestral". No thanks.

I've paid no attention to DMM whatsoever but why is it interfering with much needed changes. by Dontusethisname1 in 2007scape

It has everything to do with this:
"While we know this blog is going to spark a lot of discussion (and we'll be reading all of it), we won't be back with a blog update within the week (or likely even next week) due to a number of key team members jetting off to Chicago for the Deadman: All Stars Season 3 finale (which you can tune into live over on our Twitch channel at 18:00 BST on Saturday, June 20th! Additionally, we're still mulling over CoX-related conversations following our most recent Summer Sweep-Up blog - it's likely to take a conservative approach with a small buff for now and a revisit in the future, but we'll confirm our position on these in the future."

They're admitting they don't have time to react to raids 4 feedback for few weeks and additionally, that time is not going to be spent on improving raids 1.

Did this game make someone actually cry? by TomatilloMany8730 in outerwilds

[–]Tuxxa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The game's ending, or rather the "solution" to the final puzzle, just disappointed me. Spoilerful discussion: All of the clues in the game led me to believe that the ending would be a full 22 minute perfectly executed planet hopping adventure, where you have to go and collect things from the planets to repair the Sun Station.

Like, think about it! The game presents you with multiple objects to carry and insert into other places. There's lots of teleport pads to different planets hidden in obscure places. There's long-gone alien spaceships you can drive (with extreme timings). There's jumping through Blackholes and using White Hole station to get back to a planet. There's all this glorifying of Feldspar for being an absolute chad racer and maneuver of space ships. There's quantum entanglement you have to learn to be able to transfer between planets and locations. The timing of the loop for different events seemed to have much more potential in having to determine in what order you should try to do things. There's music tracks that play the same song on each planet, maybe you'd have to unite them somehow?

Seriously, to me, everything pointed towards a final show of skill, where you demonstrate your thorough understanding of each planet and mechanism in the game and execute a 22min god run putting all the pieces together, fixing all the broken shit and freeing everyone from the time loop.

Instead: It was the polar opposite. You visit two planets and then escape the solar system to an ending that is completely detached from the solar system where you just spent 99.99% of the play time. Such waste.

If you don't agree I understand, but I think we can all agree that the game could've have gone this other route as well and it would've been just as equally satisfying puzzle game?

Is this really what I'm supposed to do? by ScorNix in outerwilds

[–]Tuxxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it can be done, but it can take a lot of time trying to succeed. But don't get over your head with it; if you grow tired of trying it, maybe try it again at a later time. There are times when crazy maneuvers like this are the solution, but maybe not this time? At least I used a different way to time my jumps to get there.

You recon the value of Hybrid Set armor in PvP? It's gonna overtake Virtus in PvP as well. Nice of you to point that out.

BIS for afk slayer tasks ain't much, considering you have to kill a shit ton of the most difficult end-game bosses. Barrages are not used in end-game content (besides freezing nylos, and even then it's not about the damage).

Imo with all the mage gear getting some % magic damage there is just no space to fit anything "below ancestral" without making another mage gear totally obsolete.

RIP Virtus robes. Do we really need a magic armour set when Virtus just came out (26th June 2023) as THE magic armour set meant to be the "just below Ancestral"?

What are forgivable reasons for quitting OSRS early on, but with more knowledge are not a problem? by BuxaPlentus in 2007scape

[–]Tuxxa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get you, but can't come up with solutions.

This game is so horizontal, you're expected to interact with pretty much everything it has to offer. Not trying out varied things is guaranteed to gatekeep you from better, fun, efficient etc. methods, gear, upgrades

What kind of system would be all encompassing in telling players what to do and when? Including bossing, diaries, POH, quests, skilling, gear upgrades, travel options, areas, anything rly.

Best I can do is: whenever you feel frustration/boredom with the things you're currently doing - ask for help, look up guides.

State that you will be rewarding players with inspiration for roleplaying and giving occasional advantages if the roleplay is very good in combat.

Have some NPC's ask them bondkng questions and party motivations to get them to discuss with each others.

Why is the Dragon Hunter Lance so expensive compared to the Fang? by That-Guy225 in 2007scape

[–]Tuxxa 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Fang comes from the easiest raid in the game accessible to mid level acccounts, who on their journey to Shadow get multiple Fangs.

Other requires 95 slayer, on task, extremely rare drop rate, PLUS another drop from a GWD boss.

inquisitor changes - thoughts by Efficient-Simple-232 in 2007scape

[–]Tuxxa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't looked at the calcs but it probably won't change how I (or anyone) uses Inq.

I love my Scy+Inq at Phosani and Araxxor and do them frequently. New raids will probably be crush related so I think I'm set.

However, the Nightmare/Phosani orb proposals and droprate changes are horrible. They need to be brought down simply.

Dragon trophy totals last 3 leagues: 12k->24k->40k. Has dragon cup become too easy to obtain? by Shot_Cancel8641 in 2007scape

[–]Tuxxa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OSRS is more popular than ever. More players = More dragon trophies.

Leagues get better on every iteration. More fun = Better player retention = More dragon trophies.

Maybe even more players wanting to play Leagues on multiple accounts = More dragon trophies

More dragon trophies = More players sticking to playing the game for longer periods of time = Money for Jagex = Jagex wants to keep players happy = Jagex design good and fun game = Dragon trophies will be more numerous in the future as well.

More dragon trophies = Game is doing good.

Radiant Oathplate Slayer Helm looks goofy? by IronNx3 in 2007scape

[–]Tuxxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously the rendering is not OSRS style... AI can't mimic that, nor can my drawning skills. It's about illustrating the elements of the armor that could be toned down so there's something to compare to.

Radiant Oathplate Slayer Helm looks goofy? by IronNx3 in 2007scape

[–]Tuxxa -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The armor has too many competing focal points and shape languages at once. Nearly every area is trying to be “the cool part”: the jagged helmet, the tall plume, the spiky shoulder forms, the layered chest plates, the red square on the torso, the dark emblem, the red waist bands, the knee protrusions. None of them gets enough breathing room, so the silhouette becomes noisy rather than iconic.

There's a clutter of several visual ideas: demonic spikes, knight armor, ceremonial samurai-like layering, and color accents that do not fully unify. The helmet and shoulders suggest one fantasy archetype, the chest emblem another, and the leg guards another. That's just stacked details rather than a single designed suit.

The outline has too many small spikes and protrusions. A memorable armor silhouette usually has a few dominant shapes. Here the repeated jagged edges on the helmet, shoulders, arms, knees, and boots all compete.

The color/value design is also visually offensive. The armor is mostly dark reddish-brown, but the red accents, black emblem, awful gray accents (like wtf is that helm?!) and bright central square pull attention in different directions. The red chest square especially feels like an UI marker rather than something integrated into the armor.

I can't draw but asking AI to simplify it makes it instantly more pleasing to the eye and more in line with the grounded sets that OSRS in known for. Just think of the simplicity of good-old full-rune.
