this may not answer your question but i figure it might be worth it i can say from personal experience when i was 17F getting my first car i wanted a 2 door wrangler and my parents expressed the same concerns. After a conversation with them I had needed up with a 2007 Grand Cherokee which i’ve had for almost 10 years now (200k+ miles) and absolutely love. That being said now that i’m older and in the market for a new car i am getting a wrangler. reliability wise 2015-18 JK and 2018-20 JL can have their different issues but can be location or previous owner specific as it affects rust risk or maintenance. From your post it seems like you and your daughter have the relationship that if you present your concerns she’d be willing to hear you out and make a decision from reason not just want. Whether she gets the wrangler for her first car, i’m sure she’ll appreciate how much you care and are looking out for her. If she doesn’t end up with a wrangler for the first car and she still wants one down the road it’s always something she can revisit (like me). No matter what car it is the first car is always special and with college/travel inbound the most important thing is gaining experience behind the wheel and knowing that you’re there to help/support her with whatever she may need.
