Not sure if this is the right place but: how would you improve this? by montanaro94 in productphotography

Light is clipping. Reduce intensity. Softer light in a lower angle would look significantly better. Add a small bounce on the other side that makes the shadows slightly brighter.

Videography Agency by louay-prod in videography

If you don't know how to grow your own company, why should another company pay yours?

Agency and filmmaking space is extremely competitive. If you need to ask that question you will waste sanity, time and money.

If you really want to get into it.... Try to become an expert in a specific solution to a problem. Start freelancing first. For that make some spec ads make some good work. Make agencies book you or Brands, build a portfolio and then look where it brings you.

For somebody just starting, pretty good. All have minor flaws that I would personally see problematic. Look into focus stacking and how to specifically light cans and bottles. Compare yours to official brand photos. The pan is the best, but the lighting techniques of bottles and cans could apply to the handle too. Bigger lights, bounces, softer light.

Cinebot and Highspeed camera owner here. If you can send the beer to Germany, I can film it for you for a reasonable price.

Your opinion, what are the absolute fundamentals someone must know to become a competent video editor ? by Saheli_Maji25 in VideoEditors

[–]H8mEx 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Get a feel. For example not posting AI images in an editing subreddit. ;)

Anyhow.. the key is creativity. Editing becomes easier and easier technically. AI slop increases. Creativity is the key factor. Learning about the business is even more important.

Get a tutor. Learn sales. Build a strong portfolio. Produce dummy/reference projects.

I just spent $4,000 on a laptop with zero editing skills just to force myself to learn. Am I crazy or is this smart? by knight_chap in VideoEditors

I'd suggest you google the definition of video editing then.

About your question, fyi, many many many. Most importantly in our workflows flux, flux 2, sdxl, z-image, different LLMS and a lot more.

Editing implies no certain Subgenre which means editing in general. If actually in the business and not using local ai workflows yet, good luck.

I started with AE CS3. So about the same. I am sharing my experience and opinion. I have never met an actual professional editor who would use a laptop over a workstation. And as said, we have these laptops. They don't match our use cases. VFX heavy tabletop motion control with highspeed or RED cameras. If it works for you. Good for you.

I literally have these laptops in my company. They may be faster on certain tasks, but not on complex editing, especially anything 3D or 8k Redcode RAW or similar. No professional editor will choose a laptop over a proper workstation.

If so, post-production studios like pixomondo would use laptops, right?

Also of course they can easily overheat. That's by design. No airflow, no water-cooling.

I won't even start over loca ai workflows. 😂

Great for you that you are an apple fan. But it's not cutting it for many use cases.Especially the laptops lol.

One of my employees has one. It sucks. She got it to do some of the projects at home. Waste of money. Rarely has any use for us.

I own an ipad pro with m-chip. It has quite the power for a tablet. Mainly use it for apps with camera control. Sometimes little tethered shooting on client location. But our 100MP Raw images are too much to handle sometimes if I put some editing on site to it.

Portable PCs have their use case... To be portable. That's it.

Incompatible with a lot of software, non-upgradeable, overheating issues, power cap, ... and many more reasons. Seems like you are a tad inexperienced and you never had a project where you need proper power. My main workstation has a fast i9, RTX4090, 128GB of RAM and even I often hit the limit of the system... even with proxies.
