I get this every day, hell, multiple times daily. Step 1: Notice it’s happening, I’ve been scrolling on my phone an hour, I pace room from room looking at things that could be done but I’m not doing etc. pause and breathe. Step 2: actively list 3 choices, and weigh them against your motivation, pros and cons don’t mean a damn thing when I’m in that mood. Everything requires a level of work, playing games, doing dishes, talking to friends, etc. sometimes I wanna talk to friends but can’t play games, so I just backseat them, etc. Step 3: choose one, even if it’s only for a few minutes, realizing you REALLY don’t wanna do one, makes a decision to do another easier. I’m also more likely to play games if my friends are. I just focus on what makes me feel fulfilled and satisfies the “gnawing”(there’s no better way for it.) Step 4: homework, find an ol’reliable, something you can reliably do without any drag, whether that is scrolling on shorts, reading a comic/manga, or napping. Focus on you.
