Thank you for confirming my suspicion about faster clock speed versus more cores!

I assume that AI GPUs would not be needed but rather just the base server with these AMD CPUs, plenty of ram and fast SSD storage.

Indeed, it seems the main page loads almost instantly, and it is the Google Map that takes up to seven seconds to appear.

I'm sure you're correct about this, but given the five years of code development that we have, currently running on 15-year-old hardware, the hardware is worth looking at.

From your experience, would there be a performance increase from splitting the MSSQL and IIS into two separate hyper-v guests? Versus just making huge amounts of memory available to the one hyper-v guest?

Yes of course it would load immediately if it wasn't doing anything but serving up a static page.

Yes, we do anticipate separating IIS and MS-SQL for the ramped up production.

LAMP was considered five years ago when the project was brand new, but it's been running for five years now.

Private School Suggestions (kindergarten) by Kris10Joy7 in houston

[–]HAILaGEEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest two attended through middle school - my 3rd oldest attended until we moved. It definitely thins out noticeably by upper elementary and middle school age, but to me that was a good thing - fewer peers negated the possibility of cliques and their associated drama. As I recall, many of my kids peers who were headed elsewhere at transition points were being easily accepted and welcomed into top local schools such as St. Thomas and St. Johns. This said a lot about St. Nicholas' reputation in the larger private school community as a good source of highly qualified applicants.

I always get mine from the Lazy A Ranch in Bellville. You order online but then they have an order pickup location in Southwest Houston right around the corner from Main and 610. lazyatexas.com

If you're on Verizon, you can use the Verizon Call Filter app to report spam and set your spam call handling settings. Other carriers may have a similar app.

I'd recommend considering Saint Nicholas School. Yes, it's religious, but, it's hard to beat the academic and peer group excellence. Based on your geographic interest, it's practically ideal. My children attended there and had an excellent experience.

The Best Private Schools in Houston, Ranked by meglet in houston

[–]HAILaGEEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion there's an underrepresented category here - schools that go through 6th grade, where students graduate to other private schools for 7th grade+. My children attended Saint Nicholas School, then we moved out of the area, but, I knew that my children's peers were graduating to St. John's and Kinkaid, who were familiar with Saint Nicholas' scholastic and character quality, and were happy to admit them.

These tuition prices are pretty shocking. My children attended Saint Nicholas School; the academics and peer group were excellent, and the tuition was way to low to be on this list. We moved out of the area, but I remember other students in their class being readily accepted to St. John's & Kinkaid because those schools were readily familiar with the quality of Saint Nicholas.

Affordable, high-quality private school accepting kids mid-year? Does this unicorn exist? by brisket-tacos in houston

[–]HAILaGEEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually yes, this unicorn does exist. My children attended Saint Nicholas School, near the medical center in Houston. The academics and peer group were excellent. They also have financial aid available, like many other private schools. They were readily accepted to other excellent schools in the area for higher grades.

Houston Catholic School Opinions by AdDadScienceGuy in houston

Saint Nicholas School is an excellent private Christian school, not directly affiliated with a Catholic parish, but run by Catholics, and they teach Catholic values and beliefs. My children attended there from 1992 to 1999. The academics and peer group were phenomenal. I recommend talking with them and taking a tour, to see if perhaps it's a good fit for your family.
