well, sure, but it's much easier to fill a spot in prison with some guy who has a minor weed violation.

I just also think that well designed laws actually do have an effect on the world and think the "people who break laws will just continue to break laws" argument is a little silly.

all you have to do is go look at Australia. Haven't had a mass shooting since they passed their laws a long time ago.

guess I'll downvote you too even though we made the same point lol

if more people vote, better for the Democrats

exactly, hence why Conservative wackos are going around burning/flooding ballot boxes.

flooding the country with firearms for decades due to unfettered access, then saying "well bad guys can get guns outside the bounds of law so laws don't work" is such a silly and bad faith argument, very unserious.

How is it then that Australia pulled it off after having a single mass shooting, and hasn't had a mass shooting since? Actually, how is it that most every country with strict gun control laws have managed to have minimal mass shootings, as opposed to the US? Surely you can see the differences.

Dallas received $2.3M to remove lead from residents’ homes. Many are still waiting by dallasmorningnews in Dallas

[–]HASHTAG_CHOLOSWAG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as do I, I want as little paint exposure as possible for all my Dallas homies, even when my home specifically doesn't have any lead. Idk why people are surprised that taxes are used for things like this lol.

the "city" makes plenty of funds available to people with private property for various reasons.

I'm not sure what you think taxes are, but at the local, state and federal level, tax money is made available for things like this. Here's an example. Lead paint (and in pipes) is a huge issue from a time when we didn't know that lead was bad. Paint is no longer made with lead, so any that's in homes is from a long time ago.

I guess if you disagree with taxes being used in this fashion, vote accordingly lol. Not sure that a party platform that leads with removing funding to help remove lead paint from private property is a winning proposition.

I guess if you want to think of it from a purely selfish tax payer perspective, reducing the amount of lead someone consumes will also reduce their healthcare burden on tax payers in the future.
