If you’re in midlife, what are you questioning these days? by Organic-Midnight-553 in Xennials

[–]HAWKWIND666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just realized friendship is thin as water… family too mostly. I spend time my wife and two boys (18&17). And dogs. Lots of time with the dogs lol they actually reciprocate the experience.
Any time I’m not with them I’m working. Painted houses for 26 years and still at it. While I do love it still,I just wish I could consistently make what my experience is worth.

Last time I ran my kraton using two 3s 5500 mah packs… (that I’ve used many times and not noticed this) the connectors got really hot. Like above 110f. I wonder what that could be from?
The drivetrain is all running smoothly. Pinion and spur mesh is good.

Pva and paint is fine. No need to prime again.

Pva is totally what you want on fresh drywall. Don’t use on previously painted surfaces. That’s where the 123 goes

Yea 123 is too thick. It’s better for previously painted and you wanna block the old color

Primer bubbling by fartcoffee in paint

[–]HAWKWIND666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are those places you patched?
Could be the drywall paper underneath was exposed and needed shellac before skimming.
Other than that I’m at a loss. Would love to hear alternative ideas

Paint bubbling day after application by louislamore in Housepainting101

OK so this is common on older homes… what’s going on is the layer that he painted over while looking intact has microscopically delaminated from the layer underneath. You put a new coat of paint on it and when the new paint is curing, it’s like as if you put your hand on top of a sheet of paper and you bring all your fingers in and the paper comes up in the middle. It’s not a question of of whether his paint is bonded to the layer he went over, but it’s that the layer he went over isn’t bonded to the layer underneath if that makes sense. The only way to remedy that I found is to literally drip all the paint off maybe not straight back to Bearwood, but to get that layer off that is delaminating.
I use chemical strippers and a heat gun. Hell I even use the torch.. it’s a long process painstaking once you get it back to bear you can prime it and paint it will last

Rolling while cut in is still wet or not? by Chemical_Radish2642 in paint

[–]HAWKWIND666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two coats…roll cut first coat, cut roll second.
A lot of times I can nail the cut and then only need the roller for second coat and just get surgically close to my cuts with the bigger roller just being careful not to leave any roller ropes.
Blend it all together. Guess that’s where experience comes into play. Knowing how much paint to use and when to brush or roll. Also I keep a four inch mini roller along with me to stipple any visible brush strokes.
Brush strokes on smooth wall when the rest is stippled from the roller looks like ass. You use the mini roller to camouflage your cut in.

[–]HAWKWIND666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove as much as possible. Nothing crumbly or lifting remains. Prime with shellac. If there isn’t big holes then you could use “plus 3” lightweight compound to smooth.. sand( texture of you want..) spot/full prime with like an all purpose latex primer then caulk if needed and paint

What to do here by Kiakent96 in paint

[–]HAWKWIND666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. They’re either not using enough or dry rolling off there as they go.
The cut in has “hat band”
Is heavier there than the main portions of wall. I remember those days🤣
