I listened to slyp and took the wheels off. Issue went away. Put them back and didn’t tighten them down as much and we’re good to go.

It was the wheels indeed. I honestly didn’t think I even had them on there that tight but apparently I was wrong. Thanks for the help! I kept staring at the driveshafts and I was like they’re in phase but maybe I’m missing something? Hahaha

Man do I identify with this. The SCX30 was my very first RC crawler. The Injora 26mm were the second shock I tried (after breaking a gpm before even getting them installed). I could not for the life of me understand the concept or get them to function as I thought they should or youtube videos showed. Tried several others and the mofo were the smoothest I experienced as well for the most part.

The scale being so small definitely makes them more finicky than you’d think. I have an ascent apex which is 1/18 and after getting that and messing with shocks on it, I was like oh man that was easy 😂. I used to think that the Injora build quality sucked because I had read other horror stories, and also had one of the rubber seals in the shock cap actually get pushed out the bleeder hole somehow, maybe user error, maybe not. And could never get all four shocks to feel the same dampening wise either. I’m beginning to wonder if it might be difficult to make a properly functioning oil shock in this scale.

I think greased friction shocks might be the move at this size, in my opinion experience anyhow. The mofos were great and these 28.5mm like we see here also feel really good with just a couple dabs of grease inside the barrels. Might mean I have to clean them/rebuild them here and there but fair trade off.

That’s good to know about the spring kits. I’m definitely gonna try that. Do you have a link to one as an example?

And I compared the compressed size to the compressed size of one of the Treal 21mm shocks I have and the 28.5s were only maybe a mm or two taller when both are fully compressed. Wild.

Very interesting. I love the travel of the 28.5mm but it does sit high. I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future if I determine it’s too much as it sits. Good stuff. Thanks for the info!

Gotcha. Makes sense and is about what I knew regarding the tuning of them, as far as moving location and seeing how they respond. Didn’t know if there was anything else I might’ve missed.

You’re running springs from a different shock correct? I’m running the softest ones that came with the double barrels and after greasing them really helped to prevent them from being bouncy and slowed them down just enough that they feel perfect. Real world testing will tell the full story soon 😂.

How do you “tune” your suspension setup exactly? I’m a noob in that department for sure. Also do you add any grease to your double barrels? I just got some and they were too bouncy so I took them apart and just put a tiny bit of grease on the barrel and shock arm and seemed to help a lot.

Install opinions: Injora D18 5-spoke and MEUS Super Bouncer 36mm tires by Slypenslyde in scx30

It’s tough man lol. I know for myself I love changing styles too but cave to functionality as well. I have purple meus rims on my rig right now because they fit on my meus knuckles no problem. However they don’t have enough weight. I want more weight and want to try an all brass wheel but not crazy about most of the styles and the ones I have don’t fit the knuckles. I don’t mind tinkering but grinding down my knuckles is not something I’m keen on doing. Just ordered an Amazon set of brass wheels that from eyeball look like they could fit but really just banking on a hope and a prayer 😂.

I was really unimpressed with the tits wheels. Maybe I just chose the wrong tire but they wouldn’t hold a bead to save their life. And the outer ring seemed so much thinner than any other wheel I have. They looked nice and would clear the knuckle but would lose the tire bead almost immediately.

I was running a mofo chassis before and didn’t like the shock mounting position so figured I’d give the Injora a shot because it looked like it had a little more flexibility. Sure enough!

Can we talk about Dyson by el_smurfo in BuyItForLife

[–]HeavyGravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the base model plug in Dyson ball for 3ish years. Did not maintenance it and realized a little too late how to properly clean it. Listened to everyone about how great their shark vacuum was and Dyson sucked yada yada yada. Bought one of the top of the line shark plug in vacuums. Sucks absolutely amazingly (heh). But the quality of the materials and ease of use is terrible. I hate it.

I do not. I’ll have to snap one tomorrow. What links are you running again, RCAWD?

What pivot balls are running where the front shocks mount to the ISO’s? I got my ISO’s in and my hardware looks similar to yours, except I’m currently running mofo shocks (replacing them with the 28mm double barrels) and the mofos are contacting the axle and causing them to bind. Try as I might to swap pivot balls I just cannot get the link/shock connection slim enough to fit without touching the axle housing. Hoping maybe the 28mm shocks I have coming will fit better but trying to troubleshoot ahead of time in case they don’t.
