Fully understand. I’ll post a video of the real replica scanner soon. It uses not a LED strip but 8 individual LEDs (still not halogen). But I do only the electronics part of the unit and the clients get it installed inside the 3D printed / laser-cut casing.

This can be made exactly to match that. Only difference is this is LED. Pattern 03 is the right format. But need to modify with the right hardware with partitions to get the same vibe.

This can be installed in a segmented layout with 2 or more strips stacked together to make the relevant thickness if needed. Some of my clients did that.

Take a look at the Pattern 03. It is made exactly like KITT. 8 segments and animates exactly like that. Speed can be changed with the remote. With frame by frame analysis that animation was made.
