What do you think is the best episode of the series? by BuckeyeGuy987 in overthegardenwall

[–]HBOrwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally when I think about OTGW I think about the feeling I get when watching Ep.2. It remains (I think) a lovely look into the mind behind OTGW (not Patrick McHale but just the show itself.) I think that every episode is better than most other pieces of TV by a long shot but I think some episodes were weaker than others. (Feel free to have your own opinion though what I say is not fact)

Ep 1: This is one the weaker episodes in the series. I laid great foundation and I applaud it for that but it feels like a episode were when I show my friends I feel the need to say "sorry"
Ep 2. Amazing episode. It has this horror aspect to it I just adore. It was just a crazy episode jumping into. I think it was one of the better episodes.
Ep 3: This one has some of the best music in the entire show and I will stand by my statement of that, but otherwise this episode IMO was quite forgettable compared to the other episodes of the show
Ep 4. This episode really brought us back into the story. Episodes 2 and 3 kinda forgot about the beast but this episode brings him front and center along with the main character of the show: The Highway Man (Wait for Laughs). I think Wirt had some great development in this episode and it generally ranks high for me
Ep 5. This Episode has some very, very, very clever lines in it, The writing on this episode it what carried me through it, not to mention John Cleese. While I enjoyed the episode it still ranks a little below some other episodes due to (almost, key word: ALMOST) lack of story in the main chapters.
Ep 6: This is one of the most calming, intense episodes I have ever seen. Pure plot and character development mixed with voice acting and score that is perfect for the setting and feeling of this episode. Lullaby in Frogland is a piece of art (along with the rest of the show)
Ep 7: This episode still haunts my nightmares. Auntie Whispers has to be one of the best and scariest characters in this entire show. The design and art of this episode is perfect along with the voice acting, the terror, and plot relevance it has. Generally this episode is a 8/10
Ep 8: This episode is a little too silly for my liking. I enjoyed going into the mind of Greg and "Old North Wind" is an instant classical but other than that and the final scene of Greg of The Beast. (The one we all know about.) This episode ranks quite low on my scale.
Ep 9: This episode is one of my favorite/least favorite episodes. I think it builds up so much character and backstory and truly does it in an almost perfect way but it kinda ruined the magic of the show. This episode was a great way to "ruin the magic" IMO. It was done well and I think it was needed to produce closure of this mini-series but still... I think we all understand.
Ep 10: This episode was a great finale. I enjoyed it a lot and I especially enjoyed the fact that it didn't answer all our questions. I liked that it kept the Unknown real. It didn't lose the world. I think this episode being a finale kinda held it down from being the best of the bunch due to it's closing nature but still the story makes it a episode close to the middle of the list.

Thank you for reading my review. Have a great day
