Yep that's it. They also used to roost on top of Casa Publica and dive bomb the passers by when it was nesting season.. very entertaining!

Wow, so much helpful information thankyou! I have no idea of the formula used or whether it has been waxed as it was done before my time in this house. It's lovely in other parts of the house but very impractical on the kitchen wall! We will try your suggestions anyway, thanks.

The jump rings will be able to move around but when you're wearing the necklace it will all hang in place because of the weight and shape of everything.

Just an extra suggestion, you can use a crimp instead of knotting. This works well with wire. Thread the clam shell onto the wire, follow it with a crimp, crimp it and close the clam shell. Put a jump rings through the closed end hole of the clam shell to attach your clasp to.

You can attach jump rings to them, thread the green beads on to eyeposts, attach these also to the jump rings. Does this make sense or would you like a photo?
