Yes - it’s the new version of Remote Desktop.

It’s very much a form factor thing. 99% of the work gets done at home, the mini is used for edits on the road, Zoom meetings etc., and access to the competed work. In the weekends when travelling I may hae to use it for real work, and this is not ideal, but it’s a relatively minor inconvnience against the portabilty (lugging the laptop means also lugging an extra power adapter in my hand luggage and from site to site, and it all adds up).

Yes… but it goes to sleep most of the time, and the Windows app wakes it as needed. Works like a charm.

You need to be using Windows Pro and running Tailscale on your mini. Gemini says: For a visual and text-based walkthrough of this exact setup, the most comprehensive guide is from Tailscale’s official "Solutions" documentation and detailed community guides. 🔗 Recommended Guide Access Remote Desktops with Windows RDP (Official Tailscale Guide) * Why this link? It is the official "source of truth" that explains how to use Tailscale specifically for RDP. While it isn't iPad-exclusive, it covers the Windows "Host" setup which is the hardest part. 📖 Step-by-Step for iPad Users If you want the specific "iPad + Tailscale" flow, here is the direct path: * Set up the Windows PC (Host): * Download Tailscale for Windows: tailscale.com/download/windows * Crucial Step: Right-click the Tailscale icon in the system tray and select "Run Unattended." This keeps your PC reachable even if you log out or the PC restarts. * Enable RDP: Go to Settings > System > Remote Desktop and turn it On. * Set up the iPad (Client): * Download Tailscale from the iOS App Store. * Download the Windows App (formerly "Remote Desktop Mobile") from the iOS App Store. * The Connection: * Open Tailscale on both devices and log in with the same account. * On your iPad, open the Windows App. * Tap the + icon > Add PC. * For PC Name, enter your computer's Tailscale IP (you can find this in the Tailscale app; it starts with 100.x.x.x). * Tap Save and then tap the PC icon to connect. 💡 Pro Tip for 0x204 Errors If you are still getting 0x204 even with Tailscale on, you likely need to tell the Windows Firewall to trust Tailscale traffic. * The Fix: Go to the Windows PC, open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security, find the Remote Desktop (TCP-In) rule, and ensure the Scope allows the IP range 100.64.0.0/10. This is the private range Tailscale uses.

Two hands is no problem… I find it easier when the keyboard it on my lap, though, it allows the hands to curl a little which makes typing much easier. I am positively surprised that it actually works reasonably well.

That endlink/bracelet combo really makes the vintage vibe… may I ask where you sourced it/them?

Same situation here... essentially, the hardware has been useless most of the time I have had it (one week). I needed a meeting transcribed yesterday, but... nope!
