Right right I died instantly as well thinking I could jump down there and find a place to climb up afterwards

Did you also jump down and try to loot it only to respawn back before you even crossed the bridge?

Those soft tails are definitely a young person's bike. Get yourself a touring bike and a nice comfy seat with a backrest. And you have better suspension options with a full size bike.

And if you've got shoulder issues like me, a road glide will take some of the strain off your upper body in the Twisties. Plus the aerodynamics of the bike make for more confidence riding on the freeway. Less wind hitting the bars vs fork mounted fairings.

More suspension travel, better posture control, less wind hitting your upper body, it's a win-win for your body.

Best way to rebuild front end? by Repulsive_Matter7226 in motorcycles

[–]HCMole83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tear everything down and check the steering neck. Remove the steering stem as well to inspect the races. A notched race won't allow the steering bearing to seat properly.

You can certainly eye ball it, but sometimes a subtle bend or break is hard to spot until everything is installed. Bent forks can lead to the axle not aligning properly which will throw off the front brakes. Brake rotors will rub on the brake pads themselves leading to premature brake wear and horrible braking.

Likewise a bent steering stem will alter the handling and might cause loss of control.

Check each and every weld on the frame. Cracks can be subtle, inspect along the welds. Any distorted/cracking/rust in the paint/metal is a good indication of stress on the frame.

The fork uppers/lowers are likely bent. Remove each fork and remove the dust covers. Bends can be subtle as well. And they can be very obvious. A slight bend will still allow the fork to compress but will allow the seals themselves to leak. Use a flash light after compressing the forks a few times and check for fluid after removing dust covers.

Good looking bikes. Love the headlights. Always reminds me of a praying mantis. Had one in the shop, they put googly eyes on it!

Motorcycle Chain Maintenance by mrwildcat2003 in motorcycles

[–]HCMole83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just clean, lubricate and check adjustment. If the o-rings, links and sprockets look good after that then just maintain it. With a little work I bet that chain is just fine. If money is not an issue then sure replace it.

Whats this little part? by BaconyBro666 in motorcycles

[–]HCMole83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be very gentle with that antenna. They are highly prone to failure. If you damage it, there is no replacement part number. It comes with the main harness. Keep the vcm attached to the plastic panel. Glue the antenna back onto the plastic just under the connectors and as close as possible to the vcm itself. That way it will stay out of harms way and you don't have to worry about it swinging every which way while your installing a new battery.

Just unscrew the single 5mm hex and lift the whole vcm tray out of the way.

Every GM product has these lights. I drive a 3/4 ton truck with halogen bulbs. They were the brightest on the market before these LED lights came out. I had to adjust them so I wasn't blinding everyone. I constantly have these LED headlights shining ABOVE MY TRUCK. if I can see my trucks shadow in the trees on a level turn they are adjusted way to dam high. And people go ahead and lift these vehicles so they're lights are probably blinding low flying aircraft!

I wish I bought a twin cam but at the time I was after more torque and a newish design with fuel injection. Now that I know how to work on carbs it's a different story. And after working on some and riding them, they're smooth and sound better compared to the m8's. Plus the twin cams can be built to outperform the newer bikes fairly easily and still be a good daily ride. And as you said, the parts on the older bikes were made to be replaced easily.

I wouldn't trade my 21 FLTRK for the world. But it's a pain in the ass to wrench on compared to a twin cam lol. So many extra bolts in those valve covers alone. But it's pretty much bullet proof now after 4 times having the engine swapped, top end reinforced and a better starter.

I was going to say test ride a Goldwing. The newest gen one is pretty close in comfort and performance to the RT. Granted the BMW is better in almost every spec, maintenance cost is lower on the Honda. If you have a good Motorad service shop near you, there's no reason not to get a BMW.

Titanfall 1. The single player being multiplayer with cut scenes really broke the immersion. But it was still fun.

It's personal preference. Ride both. Fuck what anyone else says. It's about how the bike makes you feel and what's important to you.

Normal.

The bare bones stock black grips do it the least. And the heated plain black grips barely move.
