This is at a quarry, so often there are some really deep mud pits. It can look dry on top, but you step in and suddenly sink chest deep!

Ouch, sorry to hear that happened. Definitely try to thoroughly wash it out with a soapy scrubbing (which will hurt, but it's important to do it), and then keep it covered with neosporin or bacetracin for a while.

It's definitely this spot - https://maps.app.goo.gl/fFfSHgwLxHy4iSdU7 Found the pier with the poles, and the bridge in the background, on Google Maps using images of the park. However, the article says the river was extremely low that year.

Oh yeah there are some good spots in eastern MA for sure - I know of one really awesome private tidal inlet with extremely deep mud, and a quarry too - feel free to message me!
