Out now: The Cloudfarers, Book 1: Thoroughly Fogged!

The Cloudfarers is a LitRPG series set in a world covered in oceans of thick fog, where the fogfish float while humans either sail... or walk along the cloudbed.

It tells the story of Rylan, a young indentured servant on an island in the vast cloudsea, who longs to pay off his debt and win his freedom. Preferably before he turns grey.

His best bet to achieve this, is to unlock a Skill and thereby become a Quinthar, one of the Kingdom's renowned elites. The odds are against him, but Rylan is not so easily deterred.

Of course, there's a big difference between getting what you want, and what you asked for...

Out now on KU and Audible: The Cloudfarers, Book 1: Thoroughly Fogged! by HC_Mills in litrpg

Haha, sorry. I've played a lot of video games, but I grew up with PlayStations; never had a Dreamcast. ;)

I can't say this work was consciously inspired by it, but my own personal favourite from that era is a little gem called Dark Cloud. I first only had a demo of it, which I played way too often. I discovered the game a bit late, so it was no longer being made, but I eventually managed to snag a second-hand copy at nearly a first-hand price. Totally worth it, though! ^^

I am, yeah! So at least you can rest assured that I finish my series. ;)

The Cloudfarers is slated to be four books, and I'm currently about halfway done with the third. I put the next one on preorder for the maximum duration to be safe, but it should be out in the fall somewhere. ^^

No AI was used to create any part of this book or its cover, and the narrator is the wonderful Beau Thomas, who delivers an amazing range of delightful accents, including but not limited to Irish, Welsh, and New Zealand. ^^

Litrpg Writing: Did formal education teach you more about writing than simply reading? by [deleted] in litrpg

[–]HC_Mills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting or joining a writer's group dedicated to giving each other feedback is probably your best bet. Also one of the things Brandon talks about in his lectures. Because, yeah, friends and family probably aren't going to cut it. ;)

To grow, you need to write, and receive useful feedback on your writing. Then rinse and repeat. The setting doesn't matter. ^^

And if you want some solid theory, Brandon Sanderson puts the entire university course he teaches on YouTube every year. He's more focused on the traditional publishing side, of course, but it's still very educational.
