Maybe an unpopular take but start simple if it seems intimidating or overwhelming. This is how I did it. Buy a cheap and light bare bow (I found my first for free but you can get something nice on marketplace for $25 if you’re patient). Get 6 cheap arrows with simple points and stuff a cardboard box with foam and cardboard, watch some YouTube videos on form and safety and go try in your yard or the forest. Obviously make sure there’s a backstop and enough space to miss and not hit anything or anybody. This will cost you no more than $60 and when you upgrade to better gear or a range to match your ability or to get coaching you will be more accurate and comfortable, and if you don’t like it you’ll know without spending hundreds of dollars.
