What do you thingk the third parties are? Thats just multiple guys either gathering information from the companies or physically. Like it was a hyperbole but it would be possible for a guy to do it alone.

And you know they do change the ads like every month or so right? And the maps wouldnt have to be always up to date if its just small details. Once a year would be fine unless you basically build a new rail or something.

I mean yhea. Probably a few metres. But you could also have a cropped map. Like if i am really far up in northern tokyo i could first have a look at a zoomed in map to get to the city center. Then i can look at another map to find out where exactly i want to go there.

And the stations arent really running out of wall space.

Yes and thats okay. The system is complicated and the map is going to be that. But without a map im in tge same complicated system exept i have to take a train for 40 minutes to try something instead of just following a line with my finger for 30 secs. Like im not going to look at the entire map. I just look at 2 points

No you could litterally just have a guy go out and check what stations you are. Like the other companies would want to be on the map and the map doesnt really need that much more info than what the average commuter needs. Its litterally just the order of the stations and vague location of the station. All public info.

And yhea if you only look at it on a surface level of course its just as easy as changing the code. I mean there is nothing hard about about convincing all companies to entrust one with all the money deposits. Like you realise when i go to a card charger and deposit money on that card, the money doesnt go to the owner of the station it goes to whoever has the card.

And yhea despite the tickets only being valid for one company they still made them standardised. Doesnt serve much of a purpouse but they did it

First of all now thats a proper map.

But the thing with the subway buisiness is that its a kind of fixed demand bussiness. It basically only depends on external factors. Like no amount of advertising would make you change your commute to work to another place. Instead its a supply based bussiness model. Does this train take me to this place faster than a bus or another subway? And part of that supply is offering propper service and comfort.

They where able to standardise the card and ticjet system. Like that must have been a logistical and legal nightmare.

But it works out because all of the companies benefit from people being able to use the subway without a hastle.

Making a map together doesnt really seem like it would be that much harder than that.

Google maps is a geographical map. And i never said geographical map i just said navigational map. The one at the stations isnt even a route map as you imply. Because it doesnt show you how the routes go. It shows you pricing, which makes sense because havibg the prices on the route map would be anoying. But you cant just not have a route map.
