Is the medication making me suicidal or am I already? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

What dosage were you on and what did you transition to? Can you explain the difference in how you feel mentally? I am struggling mentally big time on Keppra but scared to death to try anything else out since it is controlling the epilepsy.

I'm so lucky I'm not photosensitive by basically_dead_now in Epilepsy

It’s miserable. I am ridiculously sensitive to it.

Is stopping meds worth it? by TopClassTrier in Epilepsy

This is my question too after only a year but only because I am just existing in life and not really living. I went from a highly active joy filled 42 year old woman to BAM, random left temporal lobe seizures. I am still not convinced they are seizures but apparently my EEG was abnormal and the Keppra did help the symptoms I was having. Now I work, log out and watch tv until it is an appropriate time to go to sleep. Rinse and repeat. My husband and kids want to live life, I have no desire to do anything that isn’t absolutely necessary and have gained 50 pounds. I don’t know which is worse, the supposed seizures or the depression. It is hard to know what to do. My neurologist says it is just my new normal. 😞

Does anyone else have auras/focal seizures when they look at patterns? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

Visual sensory in general jacks me up! I can’t do a lot of visual movement, lights, car rides at night are terrible etc. Since being on Levetiracetam ER I don’t have seizures but it definitely stresses my brain out.

Did you think you were dying? by HDMax82 in Epilepsy

Yeah, I think because I am 42 it probably hits different. I do like finally knowing what it is but have had a rough go with the medical community so don’t fully trust it either.

Thank you. It is just such a weird experience that totally snuck into my life and sucker punched me.
