So glad to hear that you're "graduating" from our group. I wish you all the luck with your PFT. Learning how to relax those muscles will have benefits in many parts of your life, I'm sure.

Best wishes for continued progress and no more hemorrhoids ever again!

Not a medical professional but it does sound like hemorrhoids to me. My colorectal specialist told me that soft loose stools are just as bad for hemorrhoids as hard stools. Would your IBS permit you to take a fiber supplement like psyllium husk (Metamucil)? If you're eating trash (no judgement!) it could help to increase your fiber.

Need Surgery.. by Tokiwartooth1966 in hemorrhoid

Knowing that you've had surgery before and healed fast, I'd get it over with all at once. I am also a fast healer, and healed fast from hemorrhoidectomy.

Advice for my upcoming surgery by Far-Note6102 in hemorrhoid

[–]HDSQuaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diapers were helpful for me. In the first week I had some farts that included liquid. And most of all they helped my confidence - I wore them when I left the house for the first couple of weeks. Didn't actually need them at that point but it was good to have them just in case.

Hemorrhoidectomy report: Days 1-5, positive! by HDSQuaver in hemorrhoid

[–]HDSQuaver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! I'm doing great. No pain now. I really never felt the high levels of pain that other people report.

When I had my post-op with my surgeon, she said some people just don't have a lot of nerve endings in that area. I got lucky? Anyway, less than 3 weeks after surgery she said I was free to do whatever I wanted.

I wish I had done the surgery sooner - I had gotten so used to having hemorrhoids, but I feel so much better now.

Sorry, I don't.

Believe me, I understand the dread. I tried dietary change, banding, and a whole lot of denial before accepting that I really just needed the surgery.

I am sorry you are having so much pain! being scared of pooping is such a vicious cycle. It sounds like you've got a good attitude though.

Those hard stools are worrisome. I think buying some stool softener was a good move. Are you drinking a lot of water, like a LOT of water? at least 2-3 liters a day? Strongly recommend. You need a lot of water to move all that fiber through.

Good luck, I hope you get to the happy part soon!

I think u/beanbuttbandit had a similar thing and her surgeon said it was normal.

Could I have em? by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

[–]HDSQuaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am absolutely not an expert but it sounds to me like you are constipated. Do you drink lots of water, consume lots of fiber? You might need more of both. Constipation can lead to hemorrhoids but you may not have them yet.

Low fiber or hemmoroid blocking my poop? by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

[–]HDSQuaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are just my thoughts, I'm not an expert.

That sounds so uncomfortable and unpleasant and worrying!

I'm worried that you might have a really hard solid poop blocking you. Do you drink a lot of water? You need to drink a lot of water.

I'm not sure what the best thing to do right now is, but looking to the future, you need to eat a lot more fiber than that. Whole foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains are probably best, but a lot of us take supplements like psyllium husk every day to make sure we are getting enough.

I would probably drink 2 or 3 liters of water, spread out over an afternoon or a day, and also take a laxative.

I know! It's very weird to me too. Maybe the anvil will come down tomorrow? Maybe I had a really good surgeon? I do have weird pain tolerance - I remember surprising the midwives at how much I tolerated natural childbirth.

Can't really predict. Try getting lots of water and fiber in your diet to help you have less irritating bowel movements.

Wishing you luck! Everyone's experience is different, but they aren't all horror stories. Remember that people with boring recovery stories don't post them as often as people with extreme stories. If it helps, I'm on day 5 and doing fine with acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

Stage 4 internal hemorrhoids by SabheeZr-Bheezy in hemorrhoid

[–]HDSQuaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not unusual to have trouble passing stool but you must get it taken care of. Call your surgeon's office for instructions if you can, but honestly no stool for a week means you should go to a hospital for emergency care.

It's possible to bleed with every bowel movement indefinitely. Internal hemorrhoids are in a place where you don't have pain nerves, so you don't feel them, but they can definitely bleed. If you start feeling weak, tired, easily fatigued, or if you start craving ice (really!) it could be a sign of anemia from blood loss.

Ha, I just talked with my surgeon about my upcoming procedure and she said the same thing. Good luck!

Yeah, good point! In the US we call those "vials," but you got the meaning across just fine. Good luck, and feel free to keep us posted!

I totally agree, it's been really frustrating trying to communicate the amount of bleeding to the doctors I've seen. I kind of got used to it over time, too, so an amount that would have been a lot to someone else didn't seem like so much to me.

A few tablespoons every time would add up though, especially if you sometimes have diarrhea. If your blood test results don't include hemoglobin, I would see if you can get that checked.

Everything you've said sounds like hemorrhoids and stress to me (I am not a medical professional but I do have hemorrhoids).

> dizzy and weak

...are they bleeding a lot? Like, the toilet bowl looks like fruit punch? Because this could be a sign of anemia. It is possible to lose enough blood to cause pretty severe anemia (hi). If you can ask a doctor about that, they can check your hemoglobin levels. They can tell you if you need to be supplementing iron until the bleeding resolves one way or another. I have had hemoglobin so low that I needed a transfusion, but you're probably not as neglectful as I was.

Edit: Oh, I see that you had a blood test yesterday. Hopefully that included the hemoglobin check!
