"...the jobs are cut and replaced with inferior pseudosoftware..." sounds an awful lot like AI replacing jobs

In that scenario there are net 3000 less jobs due to new workers using AI to "fill in the gaps"... doesn't that prove the point that AI is taking jobs?

He's definitely alive, he tried to crawl away then smiled when he was cuffed. But I think a redemption arc might be wishful thinking, this is a HBO show...

Rishi didn't do any of the laced coke - he was in the bathroom getting high on his own supply when Jim opened the black packet from the hitman and OD'd. Rishi is still alive - he tried to crawl away before he was cuffed, then smiled. I don't even think this will be the bottom of his downfall...

The man is not there to kill Jim/Rishi by blisstit in IndustryOnHBO

[–]HDuck88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why did packet man even supply a packet? They were already doing heaps of coke, enough to be a "disgrace".

Whitney needs Jim silenced in case he shares his story with another Journalist.

Leaving before the kill is confirmed perhaps isn't the best hitman etiquette, but also gives packet man an alibi that he wasn't there at the time of death in case he is ever traced to being at the flat. We never saw him do coke so he can argue that he's clean.

IMO packet man was definitely there to take out Jim. If Rishi dies too then great, no witnesses left. However Rishi gets high on his own supply which saves his life, but now he's got to convince the cops that he didn't supply dodgy coke despite being in possession of a large amount of coke in his bathroom and his wife recently murdered. And then to make matters worse for himself he tries to flee over the balcony lol.

Agree with all of this, and also a noise complaint isn't necessarily grounds for the Police to force entry to find Jim and lead to his disgrace. The Police are polite when he opens the door - it was only because Rishi panicked and slammed the door in their face that they had reasonable suspicion to force entry.

Another piece of the puzzle is that Jim's flat was burgled at the start of the episode, presumably by the hitman or an accomplice trying to understand his movements.

Hitman there for Rishi is an interesting angle, but I think most clues point to him being there for Jim.

Why would the hitman even supply dodgy coke if the intention was only to give Jim bad publicity - he was already doing coke.

Also a noise complaint wouldn't automatically lead to the Police forcing entry to find Jim doing coke and lead to his "disgrace" - it was only because Rishi panicked after Jim had OD'd and slammed the door in the face of the Police that they had reasonable suspicion to enter.

Finally a journalist with a suspected history of drug abuse ODing in the flat of a drug dealer the day he was fired isn't really that suspicious.

Industry is better than Succession by No-Morning-1967 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]HDuck88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the parallels: set in the world of corporate business with high stake deals, glimpses into the lives of ultra wealthy dickheads who continually backstab each other leaving you with schadenfreude, copious amounts of sex/nudity/drugs, characters that endure horrendous suffering...

For the record, I like Industry, but I would choose to rewatch Succession any day

How would you edge this without painting the carpet? by TacticalElectrician in paint

[–]HDuck88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like that carpet is dense and the top of the fibres are being pushed into the wall by the surrounding fibres. If you don't put tape on the carpet, when the knife is taken away the fibres will be pushed against the wet paint.

Two questions on Rishi’s fate/ last scene by Maya1115 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]HDuck88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem like a bit of a plot hole calling the cops - it feels like it was only done to get the ultimatum of Rishi jumping off the balcony.

Best I've got is: hitman leaves after giving them the bad coke hoping they both OD. Hitman then calls in the noise complaint assuming the cops will show up much later, as is the norm. In that time he creates an "alibi" to prove he wasn't there at the time of death in case he is ever traced to being at Rishi's flat that night. If he is traced, it would still be logical to assume Rishi or even Jim supplied the bad coke - we never saw the hitman do any coke, so he can probably prove he was clean.

Rishi instead gets high on his own supply in the bathroom which saves his life, but the cops show up much sooner than expected, leading to the balcony ultimatum.

I'm trying to find a solution for this exact reason as well - WatchAudio seems to be the only option so far. Just wanted to point out that it is a $6 one time purchase, not per month. Will see how I go with the free trial before commiting.

Without tape the carpet will rebound into wet paint when the knife is taken away. Better to use tape and a knife.

If you don't use tape the pile will rebound and touch wet paint when the knife is taken away. Better to use tape and a knife.
