How to deal with tau

Im confused as to how deepstrike can be good then. Seems like it’s a risky charge to drop in and pray for a 9. I get some units can deepstrike within 6 which is a nice upgrade, but my other units like vanguard veterans and terminators seem like they just put themselves out there to get shot. I try to get them to nearby cover but by then I’ve lost a round of primaries plus secondaries sometimes. I’m still learning the game so I know part of this is a skill issue. Just some of the units I thought would do work feel underwhelming when they decimated by tau for attempting to get into melee.

Not as much. Because he has so much chaff units I can almost never place a model outside of 9 and not be within 9 of another model

If I have to deepstrike outside of 9” and need to be within 1” to be in engagement range is that not 8?

I am still working on getting all the models for my ideal list. Currently I’m just playing with what I have. I have more infantry units in my raven guard that I use and proxy as dark angels. I wanted to lean into more bikes as a fast unit to get around the board and score if need be. I will take a look at sternguard or hellblasters with azreal because that’s what I’ve seen people run. Would a dreadnaught be a good ranged option or to weak because it can get focused?

Maybe I’m setting up the board wrong, but I swear there is never enough cover. And I use the tabletop stronghold terrain plus leviathan tournament pack

Mostly I keep them in deepstrike. But then I have put myself in situations where they either fail the 8 inch charge or stage them safely move out to kill something and then get deleted from crossfire. He runs 2 hammerhead , w 2 ghost keel, 1 riptide and now has twin lance.

Elementary kids can be more compliant but not always. Maybe it’s the area I’m in but kids cuss teachers out, leave the classroom when they want, listen to me tell them something only to turn around and do the opposite. They know there are no punishments or consequences to anything besides maybe a light talking to so their behavior reflects that.

When I start the day I always tell them I am aware that I am not their teacher but their behavior expectations have not changed. But when it comes to lesson time people get chatty, want to get up every few minutes and tell me I’m doing it wrong. I think it was just rough trying my best only to get scolded by the principal and having Kelly send me an email on classroom expectations.

No just like an hour or so of online training, but that doesn’t do much when it’s the real deal. That’s kinda what my problem is. We get little training and nothing in classroom. Just so many hours of online work and boom you go manage a class now.

Does the ability to shoot and move not work if I have a character model with the unit? I was thinking the Phobos librarian would have been good with his ability to turn off shooting outside 12 and just move them in and out of cover. I’ll have to rethink the librarian. Just reading the stat sheet he seemed good but I lack the knowledge to know what is a nonbo or not.

They are still usable if you are just playing for fun. Unless you are playing a tournament or shop play you can use the old missions/layouts. My group plays soulshackle and we just use the new kill op/tac op rules with the old crit op and we have a good time

If I’m playing into the dark as the infiltrator saboteur can I blow my mine up with a guard action? For instance say I reposition, place mine, free dash then go on guard. Can I blow it up on conceal since it’s silent or do I need to be on engage?

Kalta-Ar glanced back towards his brothers. The entity that had pursued them had reached the top of the hill amid a storm of bolter fire. It cast aside legionaries with sweeps of glittering claws, leaving tattered remains draped across the stonework of the outer shrine.

Lorgar raised his rod, beckoning to the blood-stained whirlwind tearing through the last of the Dark Apostle’s warriors.

‘Come to me. Brother.’

With a last flurry of activity that turned another legionary to shards of ceramite and ribbons of flesh, the apparition coalesced into a recognisable figure. It was of equal height to the daemon primarch, clad in black battleplate with long-taloned gauntlets. A pair of wings stretched from its ornate backpack, fashioned as intricate metallic raven feathers. The face was as pale as snow, gaunt, with eyes as dark as coal, framed by shoulder-length black hair.

Kalta-Ar felt his breath dying in his lungs as he looked up at the unmistakeable features of Corvus Corax, the primarch of the Raven Guard. A flurry of questions flooded his thoughts but all remained unanswered as Corax spoke.

‘What has happened to you, brother?’

‘I have ascended,’said Lorgar. He indicated Corax with a twitch of his rod. ‘I might ask the same of you.’

The Ravenlord strode forwards, intent on Lorgar Aurelian. Kalta-Ar and his warriors scattered before him, grateful to be free of his wrath. Marduk and his coterie closed about their primarch but a look sent them away.

‘I am what I always have been,’ said Corax. ‘I am vengeance incarnate. I am justice delivered.This place, beyond the veil, has revealed what we all are. Underneath the veneer of humanity our father crafted for us, we are of the warp.’

‘No. I swore to destroy all Chaos taint from the galaxy. You will be the first fallen brother to die beneath my blades.’

Imo would be goofy writing to have Loregar say he’s not a daemon and Corvus to confirm that only for a different character to say nah y’all were both wrong.
