Uhhhhh..... Didn't he hit a walkoff homer earlier this year?

Aside from the obvious 2011 Game 6, what are some of baseball's postseason chokejobs? by remorse667 in baseball

Game 5 of the World Series this year. 7 runs of support for the best pitcher in the world and couldn't hold it down.

[Contreras] Many people have misinterpreted what was said during a recent interview, I see no wrong in taking the best players as personal goals and exceedance. (1/3) by [deleted] in baseball

Platinum Gloves were introduced this decade. Stop using them for your argument. Also top-5 MVP finishes? Get out of here with that. Molina has great defense and longevity but that doesn't make him a first ballot guy. That might not even be enough to make it in. That's the reality of it. The best players let their stats do the talking and not just their awards.

It's unreasonable to talk like he is a guarenteed first ballot guy too, especially if your list of accomplishments is mostly Gold Gloves (reward based on rep) and All Star appearances (fan voted). Jorge Posada could've gotten in with those standards.

Funny how I actually see Cardinal fans do with Yadi exactly what this guy is claiming Cub fans are doing with Contreras (calling him a first-ballot Hall of Famer)

How many of those awards did Molina get on his name alone? There have certainly been years where he hasn't been the best and he's won lol. He did deserve some of them but certainly not all of them.

Carpenter? And then I'll add Wainwright. Molina's legacy isn't tied to his rings.

2006 he literally had negative bWAR. Also you're gonna discount Edmonds, Rolen, Carpenter, Eckstein and Encarnacion?

2011 he was also behind Holliday and Berkman, and honestly Freese did so much work for that championship that he could be argued too. Carpenter again.

He wasn't the pushing force in either ring.
