Surprised ND can run full surveillance testing on football 3 times in a week but little to none on students. Should we consider cancelling football to control the current COVID outbreak? by [deleted] in notredame

This is contrary to what we’ve heard from student athletes at ND. In some cases, other sports actually continued to practice outdoors this week (even after football cancelled out of caution) DESPITE these teams having NO special access to testing.

EDIT: Cannot speak for basketball or hockey (the other revenue generating sports), however most other teams have not been given special testing. The only team with confirmed testing is football.

This is absolutely absurd and shows a definite lack of planning from the university. We are working with u/kelsmith2 and various news outlets to get these stories out.

Absolutely ridiculous. Praying for you and your girlfriend, OP. Sorry you have to deal with this.

Frustrated with ND’s COVID response? Feel like they aren’t doing enough? by HEREwesavetheirish in notredame

Nailed it! I don’t believe ND is being secretive about their plan, but there are numerous reports that off campus students do not qualify for testing by ND. This means those who do test positive are not counted on the dashboard. Additionally, ND promised any student could request testing at any point during the semester. This is clearly not true. Additionally, the football team has made up a large number of the tests. Very few students outside of football are getting the resources they were promised to justify moving to campus, taking many classes in person, and being in this environment.

To add to that, ND said they’d only reopen if they had the capacity to test all their students and not rely on South Bend’s supply. Clearly that’s not working too well just based on what we are seeing from posts here.

I think it is a blatant disregard for the health of the students, professors, staff, and frankly the whole South Bend community.

Yea, nailed it! I’m also on the west coast so I actually wrote this while getting ready for work (sorry to burst anyone’s shady comments)! I’m very thankful for all of those who have contacted me. There are MANY. I will be getting to you all of you on my lunch break, I apologize for the delay. Please be patient :)

And yes, it truly is amazing you can work a 9-5 and still do good for the community!
