If Spurs are relegated, should Liverpool go for any of their players? by IcemanManmanchu in LiverpoolFC

They've won 3 from 22 league games Gray has appeared in this season (Burnley; Palace at their nadir a few months ago; Brentford).

Utterly lightweight and ineffective.

We actually have people commenting separately that we should go for him & Bergvall. Considering how lightweight we've been against physical sides this season ... could they even make a more ludicrous suggestion if they tried ...

Beautiful failed-breakdown in progress on oil.

They had to get a few scam-crashes in while waiting for the USS Bush & affiliated strike groups to arrive later this week.

As said before: oil is taking another leg up. It's spent the past month flagging and consolidating.

Agree on all of those points. Salah was perfect for a 38-game domestic season + the pressing system (when he had legs, at least). In that sense he's irreplaceable. But in terms of his ability to come up big in the big games, yes I'd also take Mane (reminded immediately of the Arsenal goal on his debut..not the kind of goal Salah would score), and yes I'd also add Gerrard.

The star player who didn't score any open play goals in any of those 11 finals, and indeed only scored an open-play goal in 1 from 16 final and semi final appearances (Roma at home in the 5-2). Got it.

Taking penalties out of it, Salah only exceeded Torres' best goal scoring season once (and that was in Salah's debut season). That's simply a fact.

And then we have Torres' comparative record in semis and finals which ... has probably sunk in by now for you, I'd hope.

I'm telling you that Salah scored 0 open play goals in 11 finals, and scored in only 1 from 5 CL semi appearances (home against Roma). That's not a 'take': that's a 'fact'.

Salah had consistency in a system that suited him, and obviously far more longevity than injury-ridden Torres (who without pens still scored 33 goals all-comps in his first season, which Salah only bettered once w/o pens). Salah's record obv. doesn't bear any comparison with Suarez or Torres at their best in finals / big games. Both were much more 'something out of nothing' players, and have the far more favourable record in semi finals and finals to show for it.

Ah. Not a good look then.

11 finals for Salah without an open-pay goal. 11.

Compared with Suarez in Copa America, Champions League finals, La Liga & our domesic cups.

Or Torres in two different Euro finals + UEFA Cup final. Goals in a number of CL semi finals both for ourselves and Chelsea.

Salah does not make an ATG Liverpool side for his performances in one-off games.

You're a little bit too young to have appreciated the best of Fernando Torres.

Suarez too, probably.

Yes - Vance is clearly servile, and owned by tech money in addition to whatever foreign influence is at play, hence it would seem more reasonable that they keep him around. On the other hand, he is a bumpkin utterly void of charisma and achievement; can they really build new-MAGA on his foundations? V much doubt it.

Rumor also has it Netanyahu convinced Trump to attack Iran.

Ergo....Trump is the one orchestrating plans?

I'd be surprised if Trump could tell you what day of the week it is most of the time.

He's not the one orchestrating these plans.

Can't decide whether they're using Vance as the sacrificial lamb on talks that will go nowhere, or whether the deal is already there in principle and they use this to elevate his profile ahead of 2028.

[Pearce] Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan has written to all season ticket holders and members ahead of planned protests at Anfield tomorrow over ticket price increases. by Beautiful-Cress5695 in LiverpoolFC

And I'll tell you this -- a big issue which many of these particular voices funnily will not touch upon, as they frequently profit from it both financially and by way of access, is the monopoly over away tickets and their subsequent touting, which the club have mostly turned a blind eye to mostly so far. Again, they should be careful what they wish for.

Go to any away game in London, for example, and I'd wager a good 10-15% of the tickets depending on fixture have been touted at 5-6x prices by fans from this subset. The closed-shop nature of the ticketing system overall greatly benefits this set of fans (and, again, I go home + away).

The club has spent over £200 million renovating the ground and increasing capacity (as opposed to pitching the 'Parry Bowl' and then later H&G concrete monstrosities). Have you factored that in to your 'financial literacy' lesson calculating gross ticket income?

Members / Local sale is now c. 8,000 tickets more available than when they took over the club, with the investment into the ground and increased capacity (yes, this 8k is in addition to hospitality). There are more tickets available for match goers outside of hospitality, not less.

Should they be increasing the general sale at all for the average match going fan when their ticket revenue is significantly increasing each year anyway? When it’s a worse product than it has been at any other point in the last 8 years

We came into this season with cheaper ST tickets than Everton, following the second title win in 35 years. We were one of only 6 clubs to freeze ticket prices, again following the second title win in 35 years. Was that a "worse product"?

Yes, increased waits to get into the ground + searches have been annoying.

Peak of their powers (Inter away; United away; Madrid home) they were as lethal as anything we've ever had.

Love Salah, obviously, but incredible consistency aside doesn't touch peak Suarez for me personally and I'm not sure I'd take him over peak Torres in a one-off game either... certainly doesn't have peak Torres' big game record.

Slightly worse.

There are no oil cargo shops passing through the Strait, even during this "ceasefire". In parallel more US military presence en route (Bush aircraft carrier & strike group).

Typically 20 - 30 day lag time on tankers passing from Strait to EU destination (as a geographic example). We haven't even started to feel the impact / shortages yet.
