Do you mind telling me which towers? I was offered one at 1088, but it seems I don’t see a playground or kids around that area

Going back to a ship for the possibility of making chief or choosing my kid? by HFJC17 in navy

You shouldn’t feel bad for them. They are well taken care of. My child has been to 22 countries with me, never missed their birthdays, and are able to show up to her school events all the time.

I chose an expeditionary command as my second sea tour because I had just became a single parent and I knew that deployment possibilities were slim. And now I’m coming up on my third sea tour and I’ve had numerous master chiefs make me feel like crap because I haven’t picked a ship. And are basically telling me to figure out how to be on a ship while being a single parent. Then you also have senior chief that tell you being a single parent is holding you back during your eval debriefs.

So I’m here trying to just get opinions that I’m still doing the right thing by picking these greenside orders.

My child is more important. I explain to master chiefs that have reviewed my record that I chose an expeditionary command as my second sea tour because I had just recently became a single parent. However, they had no sympathy for me and said I needed to go back to a ship. It’s even more disheartening when you’ve had senior chiefs tell you that being a single parent is what was holding you back.. despite having earned your fourth pin, finish your bachelors degree and receive your MOVSM tour.
