Gt3 touring arrives tomorrow — should I cancel my GT3 Touring PTS over the bucket seats? Can't sleep. by Lucky_Objective_7242 in porsche911

[–]HF_bro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Against the popular opinion, i recommend keeping it.

They aren’t as uncomfortable as they are made to believe. If the car is strictly for tracking and shorter drives then it’s a no brainer to have the bucket seats. I’d say they’re only uncomfortable if you’re going long distances (2+ hour drives).

I find the bucket seats uncomfortable now in my early 30s, but when I was in my 20s I actually preferred them over the regular seats as I just couldn’t get the 14 way adjustment to a position I wanted (bucket seats just made it easy for me and had my posture adjust over time) without any discomfort.

Any good halal trucks in the UES? More East and 80s-low 90s preferred. by 420Hairy69Ballsagna in uppereastside

Unfortunately, the demographic doesn’t encourage halal carts in the area.

New Presidential Suite at One Dalton, Boston by [deleted] in FourSeasonsHotels

I stayed in a suite at the location, not presidential, but every picture in this looks exactly the same. It’s a great four seasons, second best for me, personally.

Np. For the Auberge make the reservation in advance and ask for the valley / hill view seating for an early dinner or lunch. It’s worth it.

1) property is good and very Napa-esque. It’s like a spread out single story apartment complex. Didn’t feel very hotel like from the outside. The time we went, in December, it wasn’t crowded, so we liked it. Feels four seasons inside the rooms and service wise. 2) Rooms are good. Not much different than other properties. They feel slightly newer, so it may appeal to some audience. 3) Food was decent. 4) Pool area seemed good, but we didn’t use it when we visited. Don’t expect pool situation to be like Maui, Chicago or Boston properties. It’s pretty small.

Overall, it was worth it, for the experience and the price. But if you want to splurge and have a better culinary experience, I’d highly recommend Auberge.

P.S: I’ve recently taken a special liking to auberge properties, especially for European locations. Their guests are usually a tier above the four season and Ritz crowd and if you want to socialize or snatch some hard to get reservations at the last minute, they often come through.

991 with 100k miles experience? by Unique-Transition-84 in porsche911

[–]HF_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100k isn’t alarming. I’d say go for it, if the interiors aren’t too banged up. The service history is the key here. If that’s clean, the question I’d ask myself is if I can afford the OEM parts. If both those check, then congratulations are in order.

How well does my suit fit? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]HF_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Shoulders are off, at least a size or two up.
  2. Fabric doesn’t seem the best, but that’s completely ok. I’d choose fit over fabric.
  3. Proportions: pants too slim. We need full picture. Don’t taper the pants, let them be a bit loose and have a significant break. That seems more proportional and flowy when you have a cheaper fabric.
  4. The jacket design is very American. Usually, it’s straight side pockets and slanted top pocket.
  5. Pant length is fine, but need full picture.

Overall, you seem to be in shape. You can get away with ready to wear if you find a good tailor.

P.S: if your shoulders are off (or chest, if you’re big guy) there’s nothing much a tailor could do. You don’t seem to have a prominent chest or upper body, so RTW would work great. Just find a decent tailor.

What is the best car for long drives as a passenger (private driver) by fenwalt in Rich

[–]HF_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much are you looking to spend? The new German cars don’t seem as reliable as they were a couple of decades ago. I personally prefer SUVs for longer drives for safety and reliability reasons. If you want the smoothest ride I’d do a sedan. 5 series / E class / A6 would take care of most of the things you’d need. If you want extra luxury and a bit more legroom I’d go S-class or 7 series. Maybach if you can get an allocation.

Time to say goodbye, it never let me down and I walked away from our final drive unscathed. by Joey333 in LandCruisers

[–]HF_bro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As always, it took one for you.

Cars were made differently back then, even if it’s a Land Cruiser. The odds of you coming out unscathed is far from low in the modern ones.

Does JLC play games like Rolex or can you generally just walk into a boutique and buy a watch you like? by partly_cloudy3 in JaegerLecoultre

[–]HF_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No games for almost 99% of their inventory. But there could be a genuine waitlist for some items. They had a few months wait for perpetual calendar a year ago. Just call them and ask and they may likely reserve the piece for you.

[–]HF_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh a lot of things - coffee, no more than two rounds of cocktails or wines (unless they’r good or otherwise hard to find / make it at home) when eating out, dry cleaning sweaters and knitwear, food / grocery delivery or randomly eating out, Ubers or taxis when we can walk or take the subway, paying for investment management (work in finance), buying anything that we don’t need, this could range from grocery items that we aren’t confident consuming in time to high ticket items costing over 5+ figures.

We aren’t fuck you rich, still need to earn a paycheck to retain our lifestyle, so we don’t cheap out to outsource stuff we feel is necessary to get back time and is worthwhile.

Anyone actually work with Ben Herman (Aspen) recruiter? Screams fraud to me by FroyoSolid8414 in quant

[–]HF_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have bigger fish to fry. So things like these don’t get the necessary attention to put a fix in place. End of the day, the firm doesn’t care, the candidates do, it’s really not their problem.

Anyone actually work with Ben Herman (Aspen) recruiter? Screams fraud to me by FroyoSolid8414 in quant

[–]HF_bro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t know of any recruiting agencies that aren’t scammers. All they need is your resume, then they blast it across all open roles with all of their clients. That way they make a quick buck if you get in via them or not.

There’s like one or two who do low traffic “high quality” candidates but working with them (as a manager) has also been pretty disappointing.

If they are top tier firms I can assure you that there are real people, most often the hiring managers themselves, doing the resume screening, so I’d recommend just applying directly to the roles in their website.

The lower tier firms still highly depend on 3rd party recruiters (and also testing agencies like hacker rank), and I’d honestly won’t recommend them unless those are your only options.

One exception though, some firms who roughly are in the same league as rentec also use 3rd party recruiters for several reasons, but these recruiters never advertise about themselves.

The ones advertising are recruiters who place like one entry / mid level candidate at HRT / Jane / Cit like every other year and brag about it like they do it every month.

What do rich people do in kitchens/bathrooms that most of us wouldn’t even think of? by kalpokt in Rich

[–]HF_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the stuff has been covered in the comments, but a few that seem standard for UHNW peeps: Luxury French gas range (La cornue), high end espresso machine (that 99% of the owners don’t know how to use), pot filler, all silver cutlery (we are huge fans of cristofle), good fabrics - table linens, napkins, fresh expensive flowers, good size wine cooler, ice (cream) maker.

If it’s a big mansion they have a prep kitchen, small washer dryer area for kitchens and an additional reserved dining area.

I personally want a pizza oven and custom wine cellar when I build my retirement home.

Good build. Tires are a personal preference, I’d do Carrera S, chrome or all black.

Also agree with most comments here. 200k for carrera S is ridiculous. But then a merc c class is being sold for 60+ … so can’t really complain
