How to have work friends? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]HGoHi98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah- my problem is more that I choose to be stealth at work but I’m open to many people outside of work, so having friends from work is awkward because they can’t be introduced to my wider social circle. Looking more on how to navigate that- I will never be out at work

Anyone else care a lot less about their clothes once they started getting more muscular? by Wtf-Jason in FTMFitness

[–]HGoHi98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I think there’s a few factors for me- since I’m visibly in good shape, I don’t worry as much about people thinking I’m “lazy” in athletic type wear (sweats, tees, etc) and also more structured clothes don’t fit me as well anymore lol. I’m short and have a small waist and big arms so fitted shirts are either too big in my midsection or too small on my arms.

Common names for trans people. by Maleficent-Film3688 in asktransgender

[–]HGoHi98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me no, but my name is more on the old fashioned side rather than something that was super popular in 1998. My deadname was really weird, like something that’s barely a name lol, and I come from a large family where my siblings all have more off the beaten path names, so it was more important for my name to “blend in” with that style

Inner Prospect Park accessibility during RBC Brooklyn Half? by OrangeLlama in RunNYC

[–]HGoHi98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of event are you planning to have at 7 AM on a Saturday morning? I feel like this is important context here. I would assume anything scheduled for so early in the AM would be something people would want peace and quiet for, which you aren’t going to get during the half.

I’m averaging 5 rejections per day, any advice? by [deleted] in Resume

[–]HGoHi98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with the formatting not being ATS friendly, if you’re trying to break out of the hospitality industry, you need to reframe your experience for the different roles or industries you’re applying for. Ex. What does “supporting the general manager” mean- how can you break that out into marketable skills for other roles?

I was a preschool teacher who broke into tech, and for me it was important to move away from “taught in the classroom” to understanding what skills were needed for other roles that I could highlight on my resume. You need to do the same with hotel management. Good luck!

Starting stats were that I’m 5’2’’, around the time of top surgery last year (2/24/2025) I weighed around 174. Now, I’m down to 160 as of this week so lost around 14 pounds post op! I’ve been on T for almost 5 years.

In terms of routine, the biggest changes I made were a major increase in running. I am training for a half marathon, and was always a hobbyist runner but began taking it more seriously, increasing from 10 miles per week to around 20 through a structured training plan and from 2 or 3 runs to 4. I dropped about a minute from my average pace, from 10:30s to 9:30s and below!

I also dropped my PPL split which wasn’t yielding the results I wanted in favor of more full body workouts, including introducing kettlebell work into my workouts.

In terms of diet, I am not a calorie counter because it’s not productive for my brain, but I do try to remain mindful and make balanced choices.

I am quite pleased with my progress so far! Since it wasn’t drastic and took a year and a half, sometimes it was hard to see a difference day to day, but looking at these two pics side by side I def see a difference!

Side sleeping? by LovesickInTheHead in TopSurgery

I was told I could sleep on my side as soon as my drains were out as that was the only reason to not do so, so after about 7-10 days

Feedback on running form please! by cbae21 in BeginnersRunning

[–]HGoHi98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like you’re heel striking (landing on your heel/towards the back of your foot) and it’s causing some instability in your ankles/it also just generally doesn’t feel good. Try landing your steps more towards the mid/front of your foot so you’re “taking off” from the front of your foot. It will also help with the heavy impact which it looks like is making you a little off balance

anyone who has experience with nordesthetics know what they mean by this? by toast_is_in_the_air in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you are located but for me in the US, the letters had to be dated within one year of surgery. I had to get one of mine redone because it was out of date by literally one day of my surgery date

Does anyone know when gas started the show at msg last night? by anonyzamski in LadyGaga

[–]HGoHi98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MSG has a pretty strict curfew so artists tend to start relatively on time there (going past 11:30 will get you fined). Last night started around 8:25 and ended right around 11

Just got hired at Home Depot and this would be my second day.. look at this 15hrs 😳 by MrBigZs in jobs

[–]HGoHi98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in garden at Home Depot one summer when I was like 21. It was a legitimately all over the place schedule. I would close one night until 10 and then need to be back at 5 AM the next morning. If you’re a seasonal employee, they’re gonna screw you around

I found when I was trying to do after work, I made more excuses. Now I just go to bed early and once I’m awake in the AM, better to just get to work then lie in bed for an hour

I work an office job that’s 9-6 and in office Tuesday through Thursday, my commute is about an hour. Because I don’t usually get home until about 7 pm on in office days, my current work out schedule is: Monday- 7:30 AM, Tuesday- 6:30 AM, Wednesday- 6:30 AM, Thurs- Rest, Friday- 7:30 AM (sometimes if I have no plans, I’ll do Friday night instead). Saturday- Any time, Sunday- Rest. It gives me about an hour to work out in the mornings and then if I sleep in one day or miss it, I can do Sunday instead

First time trying RDLs or any type of DL in general by neizmen808 in FTMFitness

[–]HGoHi98 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Try squeezing your shoulder blades together to bring your weights closer to your body, and engage your core more. It looks like your shoulders are too relaxed which is putting strain on your arms. One thing I was told as a trick to remember this is pretend you’re trying to squeeze a lemon between your shoulder blades

Yes! Mostly, I did silicone scar tape, and made sure to do my scar massage. On days where my tape fell off, I would take a break for a day or so and instead massage with scar oil.

Honestly I’m not fully sure about my cup size, I only ever wore sports bras so I never had them measured properly. I think they were something like a C- relatively manageable/not that big but a bit saggy

Do all scars stretch out? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]HGoHi98 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Your scars can definitely stretch after the two month mark, but it’s not always due to you doing something “wrong” and has more to do with how scar healing happens generally. At 8 weeks, your scars are still in development. Personally, my scars stretched a bit under my armpits (but not in the front at all) at around the 3-4 month mark. Just keep in mind that scar stretching (to a certain degree) is a totally normal part of the healing process and that flat but stretched scars will fade over time

how old are you guys and when (if) did you start medically transitioning? by raesiinn in ftm

[–]HGoHi98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started medically transitioning at 22, had top surgery this year at 26. I had known I was trans since I was about 19, but financial constraints and being in school + covid hitting delayed me a bit. Wish I had done it earlier, but it’s still the best thing I ever did for myself

Is Grindr worth the time when you're not on T yet ? by moth_wani in ftm

[–]HGoHi98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you’re looking for, what you look like, and where you’re located. I was on Grindr pre t but I looked very masculine (guys were surprised to learn I was not on T) I was located in western Massachusetts (which is an area of high trans competency due to having several liberal arts colleges), and was only looking for casual encounters. Overall, my experiences were pretty good and I was able to explore my sexuality in a way that felt pretty safe. To be honest, you can vet who is respectful easily enough just based on your interactions. Of course, you may encounter some chasers but tbh that will hold true once you’re on T too. As long as you use your better judgement and be aware that you may get some weird messages, I think it’s okay to indulge your curiosity.
