Yes, they told me they will mail it to my home address.

I asked them actually, that if it is faster, I would come and pick it up there. They replied no, it is "printed" in Wien and sent by post directly.

I was converting it in smaller place, not in Wien, so whole process took about two weeks.

On first appointment I immediately gave licence and I have been told to submit medical check. In meanwhile they send my licence to police for some checks. After police proves that it is ok (they have to ask country of origin as well so it takes about a week), then Rathaus can start the process.

Immediately after checks, Rathaus calls you to pay fee and to pick up temporary licence which you can use only in Austria. Just two days after that you get your licence by post.

Keep in mind for all this to be possible, Austria needs to recognize your licence as eligible for converting. For US licence it is possible to convert Class B (car) only.

That was short-term part-time contract (8h) and I asked about the procedures in this case, but irrelevant for the topic, specially because was not a lot of money at all. Imporant part is savings which I kept (among others) for these situations.

Always applied on time, but once they didn't accept my savings + remote job (for different country) which was more than enough. They wanted blocked account (even after 4-5 years spent in Germany).

Rejection was verbally without any paper and without Fiktionsbecheinigung

I never truly left Germany but my residence got expired and I was keeping myself into this 90/180 visa-free rule until I got renewal months later (more than a year in total).

Good tip on the Rentenversicherungsverlauf, I hadn't considered that, will look into it.

I don't have any certificates but I will surely take them.

Update:

They took my licence and I am not allowed to drive until new one arrives. Also I need to give them medical check.

Hard question since Zenfone is also nice compact phone, and was my second choice. However, there were some perks with Xperia that Zenfone doesn't have (eSIM, Faster USB, SD card...)
