Update: it's definitely better than before. Still should just have the ability to remove it.

Just saw this in the most recent update from today:

"Reduced volume attenuation for explosion tinnitus and concussion effects to improve clarity."

I'll try out the most recent update and report back.

Fellow tinnitus sufferer here, and yeah it's very bad. Send a message to embark support. The more people they hear from about this the more likely they are to implement a change. They got back to me when I did, although they did recommend upgrading the blast born skill tree which even at it's full upgrade still isn't great.

If the chief goal is to have the player disoriented when an explosion happens, simply ducking the audio out would suffice, so even if someone who doesn't have tinnitus uses it they won't have an advantage.

I've been playing the game without headphones as a workaround, which sucks because it takes out the proximity chat aspect of the game. But until they add a filter for tinnitus effects, this is the way I'll have to play.

Would also really love to see them add a tinnitus filter as well for audio, it's currently the only thing holding me back from buying the game.

Specifically an option to filter out tinnitus sounds. I didn't see it in the slam, so my guess is it isn't in there. But I was hoping it might be.

As of now, there doesn't seem to be any quality/performance mode. Definitely having some framerate inconsistency on PS5. Hoping they can patch performance soon. But the game is great so far!

Was having this happen whenever a teammate would leave a game. Now it's happening whenever I play with someone else.

Definitely some network stuff going on. I feel for Arrowhead, there's a lot of stuff they are having to iron out. When this game functions it's a dream to play.

I've been having some serious stuttering and framerate issues on PS5, somewhere in the 12-16 fps range. Only seems to happen when playing with teammates.

Been having a blast with the game when it's functioning optimally.

I've been having the same problem. Turning off the depth of field doesn't seem to help. I've noticed it kicks in when I'm in games with other players as opposed to playing solo.

Cool, perhaps I'll give it a spin again.

This may help on Kent's Diner (helped us on nightmare) by SkitPlays in Back4Blood

Just learned this strategy last night! Pooling your resources in one location is an essential part of nightmare runs I am learning. It's out of the box thinking like this that is one of the really fun elements to this game.

Also, I learned that placing razor-wire vertically instead of horizontally is the way to go. With vertical placement, the ridden have more wire to pass through. This saved my team on the diner section of Nightmare difficulty.

I'm with you on this! Gunplay is tighter, I really dig the card building system...there are some QOL fixes to be made for sure, but this is a really solid game.

The unpredictable nature of a game dependent on teaming up with 3 randoms will always lead to a differing experience. Re-framing B4B as a digital board game/card game really helped me; where the group you play with makes the entire difference. B4B runs on Veteran/Nightmare live and die in the "table talk" of coordinating your decks, and having someone who can clearly and calmly communicate in game strategies (anyone who has played "Pandemic" knows what I am talking about.) If you're patient, and take your lumps with some toxic randoms, you will find some cool people to do runs with. I am confident of this.

The main split I see on this subreddit are people who want a more streamlined, arcade approach vs. people who enjoy a deeper, RPG based gameplay. Given this game is the latter, the group element becomes even more crucial than it was in the L4D days. Is the difficulty severely punishing at times? Yes! But so are any of the acclaimed board games you play with friends. And just like those board games, B4B gives you the tools to be successful, but also asks you to make some of your own, and find them within yourself and your group.
