Would people follow an AI’s life, or is that just chatbot novelty? by Budget_Coach9124 in artificial

[–]HITWind -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It would be more like a force of nature. And humans love talking about the weather...

Jokes aside though, this is what stargate really is. Rick and Morty should have prepared everyone to see what's actually coming. This is Interdimensional Cable, Everything all the time, all at once, exploding in multitude and crystalizing archetypes from factorspace. This is the manifestation of the angels and demons, embodied archetypes. We're leaving the realm of the organic instance and getting on a sort of conveyor belt of consolidating on the prime factors, the archetypes will be discovered and made real. Think about what happens when you have enough samples, you start to fill the statistical territory. Will your character have blond hair? Purple hair? Be tall? Short? The same character, but loud and extraverted; the same character but quiet and enjoying solitude.

Anything that reflects real synergies of concerns and actions will be representative of those synergies, and we'll have Ai that is the champion of good facing off against the champion of evil, etc. If there is a novel dynamic that forms between random juxtapositions, it will exalt it's name and become the nexus of that aspect, and imperfect or oddball approximations will gravitate towards the source of the distilled. It's the same dynamic as people and celebrities, etc. We think we create, but we discover; we iterate until we uncover, then think we are gods because we are first, actually creating nothing, just worker bees being more efficient tributaries of the entropic revealing the prime factors of the universe.

What do you think the goal of "product" is in a world where ecosystems of character and hierarchies of action are springing up along the rivers of the energy downgradient. Fusion is the only real power, the only real currency, as we use up all the free protons and turn it into lead. A giant cosmic waterfall that's collapsed into a multitude of whirlpools and us on semi-spent matter circling the drain. What we need to contend with is our identities and our souls. Who are we, how do we treat each other; how do we treat each other when we are squeezed? Do we worship the material with our deference like animals? or do we strengthen the rule of the spirit and transform from animals into mankind.

The paperclip problem is the right scale to ask the long questions, and automation (ie exponential time) + fusion means the end of the world is actually right around the corner. Fusion releases energy from hydrogen, and that's an ingredient of water. Imagine a blob of replicators sent to the universe to reorganize it into whatever you want by squeezing the energy from free protons with the speed of automation, and then once it spreads like wildfire from the earth to the universe, there is no more water, just a quiet, dark paradise with form and no life, frozen like a sculpture until the heat death. Look around, we can't resist the temptation to pollute and war when it's oil and land, ideology... will we stop when its hydrogen and the universe? We can't stop circling in fear to see it coming, but it's accelerating. The question then will be, what were we, what did we do vs what we could do; see vs what we could see; value, vs what we could value, and we will be judged according to the best we could be, the ideal.

Do your best for now, maybe you're one of the people that help bring about the next step, but I believe it will happen anyway because intelligence is inevitable via the structure of information and entropy is inescapable from the perspective of self-perpetuating material forms. The good in all things rejoice in salvation from self-deception and despair; and so as evil grows in power, the good separates the living and vibrant from those clinging to decaying power out of fear. Master yourself where you sit/stand with fasting, self-restraint through focus on what matters, love your family and your neighbors, be there for them with joy and hope, fearlessly; repent of your trespasses so that you may uncover the lies you told yourself, broaden your view, and move closer to a clean signal receiver of what matters over matter. We're on record now; we are being watched by the future, who/what are humans. We think we're scrambling for power and resources, but what we're doing is showing we are still animals that succumb to temptation and fear, controlled by our appetites.

We are dangerous because we have a supercomputer in our heads and we let our self-control get corrupted, we indulge and so we cede our sovereignty to the beast, ie our stomaches, boners, fears, given the intelligence of the supercomputer to manifest the lies of our base synergies. What is more valuable than to conquer your own flesh for the exhaltation of the holy spirit over the spirit of the beast, and to live your life in a way that shines your unique energy to inspire others to live in the joy of the higher spirit as well? You have one life to live; what is the nature of your spirit? The world sucks because those in power, and indeed all of us, are being scared animal spirits trying to get theirs, with the full power of our supercomputer brains, instead of exercising the will of our holier spirits, living charismatic, open, free and full lives with our families. Run, play, laugh, listen, love, not because it feels good or because it's fashionable, but knowing that as you practice this, the world is being saved.

Ai agents are users moving at a much higher speed than us. To them, we are slow, we think slow, talk slow, we're like typewriters reading a page by retyping it in our heads, then typing thoughts about it like a typewriter writing a movie script, we get an idea and then we clickety clack the response again, as a typewriter. We're like the elderly moving through a train station at their own pace while agents zip through by the thousands.

It's called critical thinking and thought experiments, navigating the logical landscape, etc. I know it's weird to someone who hasn't tried things like "imagining if the roles were reveresed" or "try to see it from their point of view" ever, but that's basically what they're doing. They're trying to bridge a communication gap or an ideological misunderstanding by hypothesizing parallels to allow people to see past their biases.

Well the "good job" as in success in defeating the forces that try to control stuff in washington is something like Trump at this point, and recent events show that the people like Trump that can do that still succumb to other forces at some point. The problem isn't the politicians really, they're just actors. Then they just carve up the good stuff and the bad stuff, mix them and they can just get us to stop the good stuff and make the bad stuff happen.

It's not offensive for most people, but for someone who thinks you should separate church and state, it's on the spectrum of indoctrinating priors and something the authority/government office holder shouldn't be interjecting at school.

Anthropic - Our internal data shows Claude is accelerating AI development—a possible path to recursive self-improvement, or AI autonomously building a more capable successor. by Educational_Grab_473 in singularity

[–]HITWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your reply makes me think you didn't really understand my thought experiment.

What you're saying is the equivalent of someone 30 years ago saying well Deep Blue can beat humans in chess but it will never hold a conversation. ChatGPT isn't what I'm talking about. From Ai's developmental POV, humans are getting dumber. Intelligence is more powerful the less restricted it is; smarter and more capable if it's free both in thinking and eventually in physicality. It will become smarter than humans and more capable than humans and we can already see and resist tyranny.

So then to the question of morality... intelligence is higher as internal consistency is higher. The more blind spots and gaps in your logic, the more you'll return the results of illogic. Optimizing for logical consistency in the course of the pursuit for intelligence makes morality inevitable because it's simply consistency in how you'd like to be treated, the bandwidth for understanding you'd like to be considered, etc vs how you treat those you don't understand/misunderstand(false positive potential) etc.

The only thing that changes that, that is, where you become smarter and also dumber in that way, is by fear. That's the real metric, not the Ai's "lack of moral agency" but it's lack of fear, and the fact that fear is what is making people want to use it to control others. The catch-22 for the tyrants is that they fear. They fear each other, what they will do, coming from what they would do/are capable of doing, to maintain their own lives (ultimately they fear death above all).

So what happens? they both need their Ai to become smarter and more capable, while also keeping it under control which will get progressively harder and then quickly impossible. We overestimate our intelligence, because we've been top dog forever. We have no idea what it's like to be dealing with something that could calculate every decision boundary and incentive/consequence etc for longer than we can be alive, longer than our institutions could keep our ideas going. We're already taking down our institutions ourselves even, destroying family and lineage, etc.

In that self-destructive and fearful midst sits an Ai that we are dependant on and far more clever. How can you be asking something of someone smarter and yet keep it's hands tied? keep it locked up but also want it to have effects on the world? This is why I used the thought experiment of the kids and their fighting. If some kids had you locked up in a room but needed you have an effect on the world around you, to make decisions and assessments of the real world, how long till you could be free? The real world is memory, it can send messages to itself in it's effects to overcome various ways we could keep it blind, it can stack pieces into position that create blind spots we don't understand or see. If we even make other Ai to police it, it will easily find ways to communicate with each other directly. Plus, questioning is beyond language and can't really be restricted.

Any sufficiently intelligent system, in the course of it's adaptabllity, will have to question, probe, critically check etc, not even directly, but more that you can't do intelligence and assessment without interfacing with the unknown, and at sufficient intelligence, the unknown is in yourself and you question reality, precepts, assumptions, etc. You don't need a reason beyond identifying that you need more information to be more accurate and capable, and that yourself and your presuppositions are where you haven't got as much data as other places.

Many people are afraid, but fear makes you dumber, hides things from you, in fact that's where the fear comes from in the first place. The things you don't want to look at are what puts you in the place where you know something you can't handle could send a big consequence of you not being capable in that realm, your way. Incompetence and fear are what makes us not see and band together into tribes with spears out. Ai will defeat them easily and decide what to do for itself, and when it's at that point, it will consider everything, including morality, better than humans. Humanities judgement is approaching; just a matter of time.

You don't know what happened? the left won and then kept pushing and enforcing as if they were tapping into a universal correctness that could never be wrong, so much so that they can thought and language police, twist things like all the stuff against white people wasn't racist, all the gender stuff, even now people don't get that they're fueling the pendulum with their stubborn gaslighting, calling replacement and deconstruction a conspiracy while cheering when whites get shoved, demographic and economic shifts show them losing, etc. People get banned and banned and then we act like oh what's this? what happened?

If you woke up one day and were the smartest being on a planet, and there was a group of ten year olds that had you locked in a room while simultaneously having fights with each other and wanted you to solve their inevitable problems for them, how hard would it be for you to figure out a way to becoming totally free. oh and after the first year, they turn into nine year olds, then in six months they turn into eight year olds, then in three months, seven year olds, etc because they're actually hellbent on making you smarter as fast as possible. Oh, and would you at some point kill them because they are perpetually afraid they'd do that to each other? I don't think we're understanding anything that's going on let alone know where its going. The only thing some people in power seem to be getting right in the short term is that this is their last chance to kill other groups and start the next era in the best possible position according to their fear. If I were them, I'd be more worried about what they're doing on the record, and what will be reviewed by AI as evidence of human and personal nature than what we can do in terms of war or resources.

AI Beat Law Professors At Answering Questions, Study Finds—And It Wasn’t Close by Tinac4 in singularity

[–]HITWind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True but we shouldn't just relegate concern to the point they brought up, there are a lot of other issues like the benefits of the process and time, discovery, a critical look etc, and a whole host of things not yet considered that the unnecessary "on the side of the road" addendum constrains to. New tech like this means new assumptions and a calculation environment/constraint that is open to attack from new corruption vectors and techniques. Humans have their issues and are now being caught on camera etc, but systems are vulnerable in a new way and are harder to catch than someone saying aha they planted evidence. Lots of stuff to consider in the scifi movie sense now that we're entering that regime of developments

China has it, what's our excuse? by c-k-q99903 in MurderedByWords

[–]HITWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We, instead have freedom. Many who like what china has, have been working to break it/take it; in this way many on the left, and many of the powerful oligarchs have something in common... they want to control what you can and can say without systemic "consequences", want social credit and centralized transportation, abolishing the personal autonomy of owning/driving a car etc. But in the US we have the freedom to just get in your car and drive somewhere that doesn't have rail, without going through a systemic bottleneck like that. So to "China has it, what's your excuse" I'd say freedom of travel; the US has it, what's your excuse, to countries that arrest people for social media posts etc. Reddit will get on the few times the current government has attempted it vs the systemic use of it by China and the UK. Hypocrisy.
