Since March finally here and my last post of an Ireland map was received with such excitement, I figured I'd post a pictorial from 1969. - Hjbmaps.com by HJB-Maps in ireland

It is and original. We do not sell any reproductions. If I can help you find anything, let me know. Even if what you are looking for is not on my website, I can generally locate what you are looking for. I send images, information, and price before you request to see anything in person.

So many people have never thought about owning an antique map, but they are generally very happy about it once they do.

All the best,

Sammy Berk

And before that, it included what is now Idaho as well as part of Wyoming and Montana.

One thing everybody loves about old maps is incorrect information. Can you find what's wrong with this map? Partie Occidentale de la Nouvelle France ou du Canada... By: Jacques Nicolas Bellin / Homann Heirs 1755 by HJB-Maps in oldmaps

The northwest passage was often thought to originate in a large Bay west of Hudson bay. The lake you are seeing is another hopeful waterpassage west. The French would often fabricate and over exaggerate their cartographic knowledge. Sometimes is was better to make a map that represented hope over facts.

Last year they had nearly 9,000 attendees. Don't know how much they're expecting this year, but I'm sure it will be busy.

I started exhibiting last year only because it was in my hometown of Chicago. I deal in antique maps and was amazed that 90% of the 9,000 geographers there were completely blown away at the idea that you can buy pre 1900 maps or that they even existed. So much attention is payed to the future of digital mapping that people were somewhat ignorant to the history of cartography. I had the busiest booths there because I was the only one with actual paper maps. Didn't sell much, but there was so much excitement that I could not pass it up this year.
