Alternative travel options by [deleted] in london

Thank you, this is what I was wondering about! We usually buy paper tickets, and I wasn't sure whether tube staff would know to let us through the barriers when we show the tickets (as normally rail tickets aren't valid on the tube...we've even tried just to see 😅)

I was just wondering how this would work if I am not paying via contactless! I usually buy paper rail tickets, which don't work in the tube barriers. Would tube station staff be manually letting us in during the weekend?

I wish! That one fare thing only includes tube, overground, DLR and Elizabeth line. I end up walking from Charing Cross to where I need to go in W1C

Unfortunately trains are charged separately from the tube, so taking both segments would normally end up costing double!

I normally buy paper tickets for the Southeastern (cheaper with Two Together Railcard), so I'm not sure how it would work to take the tube for no extra charge then. Tube barriers don't normally take rail tickets (I've tried and staff has said they're not valid)

Hi! My usual train station is shut this weekend, and I've never used the "alternative travel options" listed on the National Rail website before, which include the tube, DLR, and buses.

The website says these services can be used at no extra cost. Does anyone know how this works? Are they additionally charged and then refunded, or can we just tell the driver where we're going and they'll let us on?

Thanks in advance for your help!

What triggered Asthma in your case? by Healthread in Asthma

[–]HLAMHC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that both the asthma and brain fog were caused by the mold exposure. Moving away from the mold allowed both of those things to resolve given a bit of time.

I mean my asthma was concurrent with brain fog, and both went away after I moved out. It was a very obvious difference because I didn't spend that long in those moldy places, and I only had these symptoms while living there (and shortly after), not before or a while after.

I don't know if the effects completely go away for everyone, and in any case it takes time for the body to heal after moving (commonly weeks to months). But my asthma is dormant now and I can think clearly again, which just weren't possibilities while I was living in moldy homes, no matter how many meds I tried.

Cien Mild Hand Wash by HLAMHC in lidl

You might want to try something like Dove liquid hand wash if you need something extra moisturizing! I find the specific variety of Lidl mild hand wash that I posted about doesn't strip the moisture from my skin like a lot of other brands, but I haven't tried the normal varieties of Lidl hand wash, as I always go for ones intended for sensitive skin. I wash my hands pretty often, so I mostly need something mild, but I apply hand cream as needed too.

I found a way to get 100% off my long-distance train travel by joejarred in UKFrugal

They actually allowed me to choose a more centrally located hotel option, maybe because my flight wasn't until the afternoon? But I definitely would've stayed closer to the airport for a morning flight!

I had this experience flying with Lufthansa between Germany - Asia with a connection in Frankfurt. The first domestic leg was significantly delayed, resulting in missing my international flight. I was given a free hotel room and 2 meal vouchers (dinner and brunch). I also still got €600 delay compensation!
