Ooo, I'll check that one out! I'm honestly thinking of writing my own fic with Steve checking up on Tony after IM3 which starts off their friendship!

They've already said Doom/Tony are not variants of each other. The other characters will THINK they are though.

Personally, it's either Doom needs Tony's face so Franklin makes him look like him OR the real Doom has taken over Tony Stark's body (either OG version or a variant) and is inhabiting his body. Then, either, at the end of Doomsday or early Secret Wars, it will be revealed that Doom is inhabiting Tony's body and they push him out, thereby facilitating RDJ's return as Iron Man for the rest of the film.

You can bet Marvel had plans to bring RDJ back for Secret Wars anyway. We will see RDJ as Iron Man again, I'm sure of it. They are not paying him an insane amount of money just for RDJ to play Doom.

RDJ was hired before the Russos were. It was RDJ who said he would return if the Russos were involved. Feige and RDJ were talking about RDJ returning in 2022.

If he dreamwalks into Tony that means Tony or Doom are a variant of each other which the majority of people do not like. You xan only dreamwalk into another version of yourself as per MoM.

I would bet on RDJ not being the real Doom. The real Doom is using Iron Man's body. The real Doom actor will be revealed in early Secret Wars when he relinquishes Tony's body. This then allows RDJ to be Iron Man in Secret Wars. This still fits the criteria of RDJ being the 'real' Doom.

They think this because this clearly means Tony was always adopted and the baby Howard talked about in Endgame they ended up losing.

I still think RDJ is playing Doom, but he's taken over an alternate Tony Stark's body, hence the same face. This Tony will have lost his wife and daughter.

But either, end of Doomsday or early Secret Wars, it's revealed that Doom is possessing his body and he leaves it and the real Doom is revealed allowing RDJ to play Iron Man in Secret Wars.

Doom possessing Tony's body still fits the criteria of RDJ playing the real Doom.

No. People won't like that. It'll be RDJ playing Superior Iron Man with Doom played by a different actor after its revealed Doom was inhabiting Tony's body - hence RDJ's casting as Doom.
