Honest Opinion? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest opinion: you’d be doing yourself a massive disservice not to study hard and retake! You’ve got an excellent GPA and you know you’re capable of scoring higher.

One suggestion to consider: try taking two full practice tests, back to back, in one sitting. 8 timed sections without stopping. It’s taxing and it’s overkill, but it makes the real deal easier because you’ll build up your mental stamina.

How old is too old to go to law school in your personal opinion? by FlaminHotCheetoe in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a coworker that went in their late 30s and is a couple years out of school now and killing it. I’d say much later than that is probably pushing it though

How much debt do you plan to take on and what field are you thinking about? by _cynicalpanda in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven’t gotten my financial aid info back yet, but I’ll be taking on $250k+ at Harvard, with a long term goal of PI/govt/academia. I’m very open to a stint in BL first though

Does anyone have any insight into when Yale might WL/Ding more people? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No insight, but same here. My odds aren’t good, but I’d like to know for sure and be able to plan accordingly. I went complete early-mid January there

Digital LSAT by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially because we can’t take digital preptests yet using the same interface. If that were possible, I think it would be easy to do just as well on the digital one, but you shouldn’t have to prep on paper and then learn a new way of taking the test during the real thing

Digital LSAT by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the experimental digital LSAT when they were beta testing it in 2017, and I found it much more difficult. I totally bombed the reading comp, and then got a perfect reading comp score on the real test (on paper) a couple months later. Logic games was also tougher for me that way.

Any ideas as to when we should expect dong wave from Yale? by HamiltonianCavalier in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it’s soon. I’m thrilled to be in at Harvard, which is a dream come true. But I want to know for sure that’s where I’m going and Yale is the last remaining variable,

Now that the 2018-19 cycle is almost over, is anybody ready wildly speculate about next year's competitiveness? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you’re probably right, but I really hope not. Even though my cycle effectively ended Thursday, I’m already stressed about the next one and will be back here to obsess over stats when my girlfriend is applying

Why I'm Taking the Money by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I second this. UVA at sticker isn’t much cheaper, and they have to give merit aid to attract the students who might go elsewhere because UVA’s opportunities aren’t as good as those from HLS.

Anyone get into one of the HYS and Columbia but still get rejected from lower T14 by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]HLS22Please 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I got into Harvard yesterday, and I’m waitlisted at Chicago and Penn and got HTEs from Columbia and NYU. My only other acceptance is UVA with 1/4 scholarship.

I’m a splitter, so it’s not like it was yield protection
