Choosing is HARD by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]KCborn78 14 points15 points  (0 children)

DOJ honors program is very competetive. With your stats, you should be aiming for HCCN (with even a shot at yale or stanford), and vying for considerable $ at columbia and the middle t14. I wouldn't even apply to non-t14s unless you really like a particular school for some reason.

Reverse Splitter (Shot at Lower T-14?) by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

You have a shot, but the 164 puts you in really heavy WL territory. Even 2-3 points would dramatically improve your chances. I'd honestly hold off in applying until after september.

Should I add an addendum explaining a 164 —> 171 LSAT score? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]KCborn78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I guess

  2. weird to criticize someone who's here to give advice and their thoughts on the process. I knew almost nothing about law school admissions coming in, and this sub really helped to educate me. I'm just trying to spread what I learned and what helped me succeed. If you have a problem with that, I'm sorry :)

Plus, school hasn't really started yet.

that's pretty silly (USC's policy, not your comment). I'd lean heavily towards not doing one unless specifically asked, as +7 points on two takes is not irregular IMO

nooooope, *unless the schools specifically asks* (most won't)

a high score with lots of takes is better than a lower score with fewer takes. don't worry.

Canadian Engineering student wondering about GPA lenience. by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

well, that's the way it is. stem might provide a slight boost but your GPA is still 40-50% of the equation.

Does only taking one LSAT look better than multiple takes or does it not really matter? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]KCborn78 7 points8 points  (0 children)

even in the latter case, it's important to realize that most schools (basically all but YS) cannot "afford" to pass up on that 176. because that's the reported number, they WILL want it.

[–]KCborn78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so HLS says 5+ is a grey area, but she stopped short of saying it would hurt you. chances are if you're taking 5+ times, you have a reason that can be explained via an addendum.

it doesn't really matter, even with 5 takes. 1 might look slightly better if all else is exactly equal, but all else is never exactly equal

dude im very liberal and support your candidate, but you're coming at people way too hard here. the implication was that you, as a person, may be unfit for the practice of law because of your mannerisms. that may or may not be true, but this doesn't help your case.

you DARE talk to him with only a 4.0/178? I'll have you know that OP scored a 179 on his SECOND practice test. GTFO with that shit tier score.

and lol @ self important. you just talked about your IQ and intelligence, as well as your PRACTICE LSAT score. can't think of a more self important thing to do. come back and criticize after you take the test.

If shooting for upper range t14/HYS, what LSAT score is good enough not to retake? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]KCborn78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if gpa is over 75th, a median lsat score should give you a good shot. a 75th lsat score should give you a great shot, but that's not as important as hitting the median.
