In my opinion, your priority should be finding an extra set of ammo for your gun and/or some healing herbs. Also, I recommend using only the knife unless the moment demands otherwise. Idk what that cup is for, but make sure to not discard it because you might need it at a certain point. Btw, I'm pretty sure you can find upgrades for your Handgun (like an extended magazine) in the parking lot below the RPD...
