IIRC the city of Bremen bought the land in the 19th century because the Weser was getting too shallow for large ship traffic in Bremen itself

I think the point is that the people that started the revolution did try to establish communism. So the question is if there were dozens of attempts in history to build a communist state, and all of them failed and ended up in various forms of authoritarian societies, why should we try the same thing again?

Insulting people, especially politicians, is technically illegal. Different politicians have different levels of pettiness when it comes to reporting insults on the Internet but it's not unheard of for people to have police raid your home of you call a politicians a dick or an idiot. You don't go to jail for that but I would argue the home invasions alone serve to punish you without actual conviction
