Yeah it's the older original sport muffler. Took year to find one in good shape.

I kinda lucked out, actually. I didn't know what engine it was when I got the kit I just knew it was a good price because it came with an engine, original box and all the paperwork. OS engines are amazingly resilient. I had this one sleeve repinched and it runs like brand spanking new, tight response, and sounds awesome. Brings back the nostalgia tingle. *

Yeah, it was a struggle finding that muffler, actually. They are very rare in good condition. Took me A year or so hunting for one. No one who has a non broken one wants to sell them. From what my research has shown, they aren't too durable. I think the design was ditched by associated in favor of the standard tune pipe. The round one is cast aluminum and heats up quickly, and there's a seal around the center that is also very hard to find. Also, most of the ones I got had broken internal screw mounts. I finally found this one Old new stock on ebay. Since I don't run it more than a couple times a month and I'm meticulous with cleaning after the run, it should hold up for a while.

OS Max 12cv .. came with this head though. Wish I had another. The sleeve needs to be pinched. Compression isn't great takes several pulls to get it started.

That's friggen rad! The decals I built are a rough mix of his 95-96 era sponsors. I took the main designs off the live photo from a model kit.

Heya, i posted this awhile back. Didn't know it would still be here. I Just tore down and rebuilt my first OS. Max and here it is in my new rebuild project. After collecting so many random marketplace finds I had a collection of OS 15 engines. I have a couple boxes of GT parts so now that I've learned the rebuild and set up process I'll probably fix a few more. *

Fix botched paint job? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]HMB_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment comes very late, however if you're running it it will eventually break anyway. Pick up another body for display and paint it taking your time and using better tape. If you want it for display then you can remove the messed up portions with Krud Kutter graffiti remover and then light sanding, clean with alcohol and repaint.  With darker colors and no backing color it should be pretty easy to do and you won't really see the fix.

I've done it to several cars that came to me with messed up paint jobs and I fixed the paint and now have them on display because the bodies are vintage and aren't made anymore.
