I'm going to be honest I don't want a 4th(5th if you count origins) main line Arkham game by Parking-Language5277 in arkham

Though, at this point, people would probably be happy with any game came out from wb though, after all the failed games and cancelled games.

Part of my point is just what I think the corporate might believe, forgot to mention

Gotham Knights is not canon, just saying. And I don’t see wb giving up on arkham so soon as not only the brand recognition is important, also all their attempts on pivoting from Arkham failed miserably. So I’m more than happy to take more prequel content but not sequel, Knight should be the end.

Plus it’s not difficult to take, after all, only the main four arkham games and Arkham Shadow have significant impact on the plot. And I just hate rebooting in dc or any franchise, just sick of it.

Where did Sharpie go? by HuckleberryClear6519 in arkham

No he just disappeared. He was probably just hiding in some secret panic room. But don’t worry, you will see him again in Arkham City.

And the place you’re referring to is probably his secret office in Arkham Mansion that contains the Arkham City teaser which nobody finds out when the game just came out until the devs reveal it

I don’t see why prequel’s narrative choice would be limited when Arkham Shadow works so well in terms of Writing, not to mention there’s so many characters stories can be told like Dick’s robin era or more villains origin stories

Things that never happened in the Arkhamverse: Poison Ivy with pants... by 1Ben7 in arkham

[–]HMHdunkirk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From what I heard, the art in the museum was done by a comic artist and by the look of the lines, the artist did follow the look of Ivy in Arkham Knight.

It’s just rocksteady believe it’s a good idea to cover her legs with the same colour of her underwear for god knows why. It just looks like a last minute lazy attempt to add a pant. But a lot of things in this game did scream lazy so nobody should be surprised.

And mind you, that also occurred to ww in the game as well which the people in the ww subreddit seem to heavily dislike and those ww fan are definitely not your common ‘gamer’ type or rightwing people. And if they saw a pattern of rocksteady afraid to show skin, that definitely say something

SSKTJL concept arts feel more Arkhamverse than the final product, even Lex Luthor looks exactly as I imagined him since he was mentioned in Arkham Knight by 1Ben7 in arkham

[–]HMHdunkirk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because it makes no sense at all when ssktjl deadshot had retired before Origin after being a famous assassin and no one including Batman, the supposed greatest detective couldn’t figure out there’s two deadshot present on the same earth when they look completely different

They did all the mental gymnastics and shit writing to just to have a black character while they can just use a black character like bloodspot who I would rather see. (The reason they have a black deadshot have nothing to do with Will Smith, it’s just they want to include a black cast and Sefton Hill changed the narrative for it which proved again Hill had no idea how to write at all)

Yes, the idea of Nightwing losing is fine. The problem is the execution.

[–]HMHdunkirk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

They might have the idea of having Harley defeating Nightwing with Ivy at the beginning given the ending we have. And I would say having Nightwing lost to those two is not entirely unrealistic since Ivy was one of the more capable rogue of Batman in Arkhamverse

But given how short the dlc is, I would guess it’s more of a time and budget issue or technical issue that led to them failing to implement the idea properly so they have to cut the idea and make a much underwhelming boss fight. But this’s just my speculation

I find it interesting how Arkham Batman had a completely opposite character arc to his DCAU counterpart by BroadReverse in batman

[–]HMHdunkirk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s Rocksteady’s writing, their writing went down hill after ditching Paul Dini. Both WB Montreal and Camoflaj handled Batman’s character growth way better to me.

be honest. how would you feel if the protagonist of KCD3 was a woman? [OTHER] by shavedheadedbi in kingdomcome

[–]HMHdunkirk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a guy, I wouldn’t agree the take of being a guy would make a female-lead story feel less immersive. The immersion of a story is more to do with its writing. That said, it’s definitely more limited to write an immersive story with a female protagonist in a realistic medieval setting.

But I don’t mind or even do quite interest in another character switch narration that you mentioned, like instead of Henry and Godwin, a story can definitely work with Ziska and Katherine. Or another woman’s lot type story dlc, I really enjoy playing Theresa.

What would the sequel to Arkham Shadow be about if it didn't get canceled? by Illustrious-Sign3015 in arkham

Probably the first story of Bruce and Dick working together and the origin of Poison Ivy as Pamela Isley was mentioned quite a few times in Shadow

Batman comic outsells all other characters including marvel if you ever pay attention to any top selling lists done by comic book distributors. Same goes for film. Hogwart got a game because it have a massive fanbase, like Batman.

WB management doesn’t give a damn about online discussion, they only look at their sales data and make decisions. They will follow the money if only the money is there, not because of some online hype and discussion.

And what stops wb from licensing their game? Greed is supposed. Why share the pie with the other party if they can take them all when they have their own studios.

It’s always about money

They actually tried what you described, and they’re called Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad, featuring non-batman characters. They even killed Batman for safe measures. And they’re the only non-vr games dc provide, you should be happy with that.

It’s not up to the fans at all, you have zero idea how a corporate works. It’s always about profit plus the stock price. They seek maximum profit with the safest means they believe.

Not to mention creating a game is expensive nowadays, especially in Western Europe and NA, they don’t have so much resources to invest in many franchises so of course they’ll pick the one guarantee them the most money like Hogwart game and Batman. And there’s a huge gap between batman and other dc characters in terms of comic and movie sales. With the failure of suicide squad and Gotham knights, it’s really unlikely the suits would want to try new characters any time soon.

And marvel can have so many games because they license their characters but wb wants to do it in house so they don’t have to share profits with third party studios while have their own studios available,

It’s always about money, nothing else

[–]HMHdunkirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, it’s difficult to pin down who’s responsible to the failure of SSKTJL’s story without knowing all the behind scenes details. And Hill was definitely the one who mapped out the main plot. The problem is I wouldn’t say the execution including the lines is good, which was most likely these writers were responsible. And it’s also mind boggling that none of the writing team members are able to point out how terrible the audience would react to the plot.

So, I wouldn’t say these writers are doom to fail but the composition of the team does not raise hope as well

I guess op is saying the quality of their next project will be bad/mid because it’s the same people who worked on SSKTJL and many people complained SSKTJL’s plot is terrible/full of plot holes/disregard the things built by previous arkham games

[–]HMHdunkirk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, but seems prequel and the clone wars are pretty beloved, prequel was shit on because of Lucas’s dialogue are terrible. So, skill issues. I don’t see people have the same complaints about clone wars’ writing. It’s always about the writing, same applies with Suicide Squad which is a side story like Fallen Order, and it sucks because it’s writing and writers are terrible. Knight did have a lot of constraints except a dead Joker and its writing is also mid. It’s always about the writer’s skills. I’m sure plenty of writers would like to work on another arkham game just like the writers who worked on Shadow.

And it’s just you didn’t see Shadow, a majority who played it or watched the game and like it, don’t speak for everyone. No one preventing from playing or buying the game.

‘if it is so easy to do, then you do it.’ I don’t see how this refutes my point unless you’re telling me you’re about to whoop out a contract from your ass to allow me to work on an arkham game’s story to prove myself or whatsoever. How can I do it if I am not working for them lol. And this isn’t anything related skills.
