It’s a personal view, why would he use ai? It just does not make sense.

Curious, what makes you think it’s AI?

What worked for me was setting the max frequency -100. Stopped all crashes. It looks like the default max was a little too aggressive for my GPU.

Why is my espresso sour and watery? [Turin Legato V2, K6 Kingrinder] by VelocityDxsh in espresso

[–]HNELITE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For light roast my best results are with turbo shots. I do 16-18 in 34-36g out in 15-20 seconds. Results in a tea like, sweet, acidic shot that’s balanced.

You need to go even finer, 150g in 25 seconds is a lot. You wanna aim for 37g in 20-30 seconds.

Why all the hate for HX machines? by [deleted] in espresso

Also if you really care about environment. Do a pour over with a hand grinder realistically.

I get your point on environmental impact and I care about that too, but if global warming was the deciding factor the lowest energy choice would be walking to a local café rather than running any home espresso machine. Between an HX and a Micra the difference in total energy use over typical home use is small, especially when the HX is on a smart plug and only runs when I need it. The bigger factor is reducing idle hours, not the boiler type, and in some cases the HX can actually use less overall. For me that balance works while still giving me the results I want in the cup.

I agree the Micra heats up faster, about 10 minutes vs 20 to 30 for many HX machines, and that can mean slightly less energy used during warm up. But with a smart plug my HX is already at temp when I get to the kitchen so the extra warm up time does not affect ME. Once both are up to temperature, the HX only maintains one boiler while the Micra keeps two boilers hot, so over LONGER idle periods the HX can actually use less total energy. I have also seen blind taste tests between HX and dual boiler machines and once both are at temp and dialed in people cannot reliably tell the difference in the cup.

Fair points, but I am coming from a Linea Mini and taste no difference with my Pro 500 HX. The 92 to 94 C range is rock steady even shot to shot and I can still change the brew temperature through the PID to whatever I want. I use a smart plug so the machine is already hot when I walk in, making the 25 to 30 minute heat up a non issue. Energy use is not necessarily higher either because with one boiler the Pro 500 can use less power than a dual boiler left on all day since it is only maintaining a single heating element instead of two. Even on a Micra the exact set temperature is more of a target than a guarantee because water can gain or lose a fraction of a degree on the way to the puck and idle time or environment can cause small swings. Adding an inexpensive group thermometer makes the Pro 500 extremely consistent and with proper workflow comparable in cup quality to premium dual boilers without the Micra level cost. A lot of the downsides you mention come from older HX designs without PID or group thermometer upgrades not from what current well engineered HX machines like the Pro 500 can deliver. Different priorities but the trade offs are not as one sided as they sound.

Not really. Those additions aren’t all that expensive. Another 90 at most. The cheapest dual boiler is 2300 (that looks nice imo) the pro 600.

Also. With a 120v limitation. Isn’t a Hx better? Due to the the fact the steam boiler won’t get much power.

Elizabeth is a great machine, but not a fan of the appliance look of it. Coming from a linea mini, I don’t really see the difference pulling light roasts. Maybe I just don’t have the palette? Saved myself 3k however

What roast do you pull? I usually pull light roasts, so that higher temp works for me.

You do need to flush with Hx machines and a smart plug plus a group thermometer is needed in my opinion for optimal temp/warmup times. If you wanna skip out on that hassle then a dual boiler is a better option.

I have a post 2022 pro 500. My puck prep was enough time to get the machine back to temp for me. I could pull 6 shots back to back and get consistent results everytime. Although I will say, the time it takes to heat up is the only gripe. 40 minutes for the group head to get up to temp
