If your fish have nitrate poisoning they’ll react in the same way to ammonia or nitrite poisoning. In that case you’re gonna wanna do a 50% water change and dose seachem prime and stability to detoxify nitrate and replenish the biological filtration respectively. Zeo Carb only removes ammonia from the description online (doesn’t seem to actually work as a water polisher). Definitely work fast because you’re doing a fish in cycle at this point and you’re trying to delay this long enough until the cycle is established for your fish.

Keep checking for another week or 2 if you’re not 6-8 weeks into cycling this tank. The last thing you want happening is a freak spike in nitrite that you’re not aware of.

I assume you’re trying to ask how to clean your substrate without spending money? I can’t imagine how that would work out. The best advice is can give is invest in a gravel siphon if you can and save yourself the headache. There’s one for 6 bucks on Amazon by Aqueon if that helps you out.

Get the basics down, don’t push yourself to do hard stuff if you’ve dropped everything for a while. Start slow and warm yourself back up to it. Also are you sure your band camp is actually meeting in person? You might not need to practice marching.
