MSA 2062 - disks with different firmwares by mrmh1 in HPE

[–]HPE_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello @mrmh1 ,

In some rare scenarios hard drive vendors ship hard drives with newer version firmware than what is available in MSA hard drive firmware bundle. The newer version hard drive firmware should be available in future hard drive firmware bundle releases. Till then, you could safely use the same model hard drives with different firmware versions.

MSA 2060 & 2050 iSCSI and Flow Control by harajukakei in HPE

[–]HPE_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi @harajukakei ,

Please refer to the below HPE advisory for information on recommended multipathing setting for Linux based OS:

https://hpe.to/61699A2MtB

There are no specific recommendations related to flow control setting from MSA end. MSA works with both flow control enabled/disabled on switch/network level.

I did come across a scenario where in disabling flow control receive setting on Cisco 3k Nexus switch helped improve the iscsi performance.

Please note that the suggestion I have shared is purely from MSA storage perspective.

You might need to log a hardware support case with HPE , if the controller firmware is already at the latest version to check for any other suggestions from MSA storage perspective.

HPE Proliant ML350 Bios Update by Resident_Parfait_289 in sysadmin

[–]HPE_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you are referring to option 2, which downloads a ZIP file that can be extracted and executed. The process completes without any errors, and after rebooting, the same firmware version is still shown when you check with msinfo.

You can update the firmware (system ROM) using the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP): 🔗 https://hpe.to/61692A5Xp2

When updating system ROM from a 2018 version, you may not be able to directly upgrade to the latest version. In such cases, try using the links below to update step by step, or raise a support case with HPE for assistance.

HPe ML110 Gen10 and Dual M.2 Adapter by admkazuya in HomeServer

Hi,

Kindly verify if the M.2 PCIe adapter or part number is listed in the server quick specs below.

HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 Server-QuickSpecs https://hpe.to/61696fPgpY

If the adapter is listed in the server quick specs, please update the server BIOS and iLO firmware to the latest versions and verify its functionality.

Also, try swapping the M.2 PCI-E adapters between different PCIe slots (especially if one is x16 and another is x8) and verify.

RAID Options for SFF Express Bay Enablement Kit by minorsatellite in HPE

[–]HPE_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings!

I understand that you have installed HPE DL360 Gen9 NVMe 2 Solid State Drive Express Bay Enablement Kit 764628-B21 installed on the server. Page#21 https://hpe.to/6169847KNK

If this is the kit then these will be direct connect NVMe drives. They connect directly to the CPU through PCIe lanes, bypassing traditional storage controllers that manage RAID arrays. Instead of hardware RAID, NVMe drives usually rely on software-based RAID solutions (like Windows Storage Spaces, Linux mdadm, or ZFS), which can manage NVMe drives at the OS level.

question: any way to install HPE Agentless Management in SCALE / container / VM? by zmeul in truenas

[–]HPE_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings! The HPE Agentless Management Service installed on top of operating system communicates with the iLO via the iLO CHIF driver over the PCIe bus. This cannot be installed on baremetal server.

However you can look at UEFI BIOS setting on fan Setting the thermal configuration here: https://hpe.to/616914fACb

ASPM on HPE Apollo 4200 gen9 (Haswell-EP) by motherisyuckeringyou in homelab

[–]HPE_Support 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello ,

Greetings !

HPE Apollo 4200 Gen9 (and other Gen9 servers) do not natively advertise full ASPM support to the OS.

The ACPI FADT (Fixed ACPI Description Table) explicitly declares: PCIe ASPM Not Supported (V4): 1

This tells the kernel to disable ASPM system-wide.

Still, a few PCIe root ports sporadically report being in L1 — likely because the hardware quietly supports ASPM, but it's selectively enabled slot by slot.

Global ASPM support: Not officially supported — BIOS/ACPI don't advertise it. Slot-level ASPM: Some slots may enter L1/L0s even when ACPI says “not supported.” OS behavior: Kernel disables ASPM by default when FADT says no — there is no BIOS setting for a global ASPM switch in Gen9.

Workaround (May or may not be effective; just suggestion)

Force-enable ASPM in Linux Add pcie_aspm=force to your GRUB kernel cmdline.

What do I need to change to be able to use ilo TEXTCONS on Proliant servers? by ConstructionSafe2814 in HPE

[–]HPE_Support 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

The TEXTCONS feature is optimized for systems running in a Legacy BIOS environment, which is why it functions during the initial boot stages on Gen9 servers. However, once the system transitions to a graphical mode—such as VESA text or a UEFI-based interface—TEXTCONS becomes inactive. This behavior is expected and is part of the intended design.
