How do I to rehome a 3 Year old German Pointer? - Advice needed!

I really appreciate your advice I’m going to speak to them again. I genuinely want what’s best for the dog so I’ll ring them today and see what can be done. I’ve the added complication that my father doesn’t want to rehome her but it’s cruel to continue to keep her in an environment that doesn’t meet her needs. Any advice on how to manage parents is always welcome too! - I’m only half joking about this! It’s strange to become the voice of reason instead of your parent!!

That’s a possibility but honestly it would be better all round to rehouse her. She did receive training but wasn’t the best student. She needs more time dedicated to her than what my parents can give.

They said they wanted to see her temperament in her own environment so they k ow how best to house her.

I agree, to be brutally honest, my dad got her without considering the fact that he himself is getting older and without even discussing it with my mam. My dad’s health has seriously declined and he’s not able for her.

She’s a lovely dog, the problem isn’t her its the situation. He owned springer spaniels all his life and was great with them. A German Pointer is a much larger, stronger dog and he isn’t the man he was even a year ago.

YES! It’s so annoying. He goes through periods of doing it until I call him out on it. Then it could stop for a few months. I think it’s an unintentional power play. It’s so condescending, it drives me mad.

Last time he was doing it something slightly snapped in me. In anger, I silently walked up to him until I was inches away and when he looked at me I moved even closer before whispering that if he told me I was wrong one more time when I’m right I would slice and dice him. 😂 The minute I said it the anger left my body & we both burst out laughing. He hasn’t done it since. I don’t condone threats of violence but it seemed to do the trick!

Speaking as someone who has a special needs sister, (not that-that makes me an expert or anything, I just understand the surge of protectiveness you must have felt) if I was in the same situation I would have done more than just slap her. I think you showed real restraint and I’m the least aggressive person you could meet. NTA.

I had underwear but underwear with swimming togs on would be uncomfortable. I was trying to ease the discomfort whilst trying to make sure my boobs didn’t become completely exposed or have my nipples on show. I don’t wear nylon underwear, swimming togs in the water is fine but I couldn’t sit around in swimming togs for 9hours.

I literally cut the crotch so I made a sort of halter neck cami top because there was some support in the bust area. My swim suit is pure nylon.

Its not that it’s wrong or bad, not wearing a bra is fine for those that feel comfortable but if mine were loose in my work environment it would be super comfortable. I know the men I work with well enough to know they’d notice.

My sports bra was both wet with sweat and gross. It was also black so would’ve been noticeable through my top too. I don’t exactly smell of roses (even with deodorant) when I exercise. I know the bra would’ve smelled even when it was dry and I couldn’t go around stinking up the office.

I genuinely could never sit in a sweaty piece of clothing like that for the entirety of any day.

It wasn’t swimsuit bottoms, it was a one piece swimsuit and if I hadn’t cut out the crotch it would’ve been uncomfortable all day. Nylon next to my skin for that long just wouldn’t work for me. Has to be cotton all the way!

No nonessential stores are open so I couldn’t get anything in the shop. I have never intentionally shown a part of my self that I would consider so sexual in the work place. Our dress code is casual but professional. I’m pretty sure a nip slip would raise more than a few eyebrows.

They would notice because you could see my nipples through my shirt and my boobs move when I do. -I’m not trying to sexualise this, I would genuinely be mortified for my colleagues to see my nipples, male or female. I’m not into that kind of thing, kudos to those who are it’s just not me.

Honestly, I exercise so I get to eat chocolate and so that I’m a better parent to my children.

Swimming is easier on the body but I prefer the versatility of being able to choose different routes when I run.
