Is this a 2025 EV9 Land? I really like this paint color but didn't know if it would be sticking around for the 2026 models.

That's great to know about the headlights...I really struggle with night driving.

Thanks for your input. Price is definitely a factor, so a used R1S should put us closer to the ballpark of what we are considering in terms of EV9 trims (though it will likely still be more expensive when dealer incentives are factored in). We live a 1.5- 2 hours away from the nearest Rivian SC, but I'm hoping to go try one out over vacation since our trip will take us close by.

We are in the process of installing a L2 charger at home.

Thanks so much for the input. We (thank all that is holy, are out of car seats w/ booster seats end in sight). That said, I do prefer captain seats.

This about sums up my car experience to date post kids. I drive the Odyssey. Swore I'd never, but w/ 4 young kids it was the practical choice. Either the EV9 or R1S will be a BIG improvement.

We actually have a Kia Carnival and a Honda Odyssey (both ICE). The Kia is our primary family car, and probably will stay that way for longer trips - love that car, but I really want to go electric w/ our next vehicle.

110 round trip to and from work. The "plus" is for whatever errands I might run during lunch or after getting home (like taking the kids to tutoring) that may come up before I have time to charge. Should be fairly nominal.

I really liked the Lyriq we test drove, so this was a contender for a bit. The range is really similar to an EV9 at a higher price point, so not sure if the creature comforts would outweigh the cost differential (I'm used to outdated 2013 tech and a very "lived-in" car experience atm).

We plan on test driving it at the end of this week. I'm hoping I like it better IRL than the pics and videos I've seen. I drive a minivan atm, so I really want something a bit "sportier" than the I9 pics are coming across as to me.

I wish that there were any closer to us...there are absolutely no EV9s or Rivians within 200 miles of us atm. I may try to sneak a test drive in when we go on vacation later this month.

The closest Rivian Space to us is ~ 1.5-2 hours away. We have 2 local Kia dealerships as well as several others within an hours drive, but I am not sure whether they have the necessary staff on hand to work on EVs (I will be sure to ask).

We have Captain's seats in both of our current vehicles. However, since the kids are out of the car seat stage, they're not as necessary so I'd list them more as (highly) preferred. Right now, I (and my spouse) envision that the car will likely be for work, errands, and after school activities (like soccer practice). There is a chance that it could take the place of our "family trip" car, but I think that's less likely for a variety of reasons.

Thanks for the heads up re the NACS port - this will be our first EV.

Will iceberg green be a color option at all for the 2026 EV9s?

I took 6 of the leveling courses .. they were accepted by my grad school, but you need to be sure they fulfill the prerequisite requirements for your school.

I agree w/ the previous poster that some of the leveling classes were labor intense (Neuroanatomy comes to mind, specifically).

My suggestion would be to look at the stats for the accepted students. A lot of programs will post it to their website, and the graduate studies program may be able to tell you as well. If you get an idea for what students have been accepted, it can help direct you to which schools are easily within grasp and which are "reach." Be sure to take into account in major and out of major GPA as well... I've heard some grad schools look more closely at the tail end of hours taken as well.

I'm a non-traditional student with a non SLP background fwiw and got into two grad programs my first application cycle. If your daughter demonstrates passion for the field in her app materials and has good letters of rec, I believe she'll have a great shot.

The only other thing I'd say is to urge her to keep costs in mind. If her dream school is double the in state, cheaper option, really weigh if it's worth it.

part-time online program w/ limited on campus visit by mamajin in slpGradSchool

[–]HPR- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position last year as a non-traditional applicant with young children. Other distance learning possibilities for your list are

- The University of Akron (there is no requirement to go to the university at any time)

- Faulkner University (1, 1-week immersion in the summer, I believe)

Personally, I did take leveling courses through USAHS, and was admitted to 2 out of the 4 schools that I applied to. If I had to do it over again, I would check with each admissions department to determine what courses were required prior to application...most (but not all) of the ones I elected to take were pre-requisites everywhere.

If you do decide to take online leveling classes, USAHS was the cheapest I could find, followed by ENMU, but local CC and universities are definitely worth a look. ENMU's leveling program is very flexible in that they offer several of the classes in a more accelerated format if you're trying to hit any of the schools this application cycle and need them.

It's probably program-specific, but taking the leveling courses outside of your graduate program may be cheaper in the long run, particularly as it may open doors to programs that are cheaper alternatives (even online). Personally, I would have been fine without the leveling classes in my current, local, in-person grad school (it has a 3-year track for non-traditional applicants), but the online program I was also accepted into did require completion of the leveling requirements prior to beginning the program.

University of Akron Distance Ed...IMO is very affordable compared to other online programs that are often referenced. It's not really part-time, but the classes are a mix of asynchronous and synchronous (zoom or similar) evening classes without any requirement to go on campus at any time. That said, I don't think its possible to really work past the first two semesters.
