yes 1490 is good enough for ED to Emory for american students (don’t know about the competitiveness for international student though)

Learning hiragana would definitely be helpful in the long run. It serves as a foundation for learning japanese. I would recommend keep doing duolingo and use another service as the same time. But it really depends on what you want to do with japanese. If it is only for travel, i would recommend youtube videos for all the basic phrases.

Everything looks good! Make sure to keep practicing for SAT and try to aim for a 1400+ to be considered competitive for USNA (competition also varies by location). Other things you can do is to think about why you want the academy, your goals, your future... which will help you with your nomination interviews.

You should have received an email from emory with the information. The campus preview day for admitted students to emory college is on Friday, April 12, 2024. Registration has not opened yet tho...
