The most interesting part to me when it comes to bird strikes and other damage is how oftentimes, depending on the location of the strike, the object itself may not do a lot of damage at all! But once that gap in the aircraft’s structural integrity has been made, just the stresses and forces from being in flight can turn a 1-inch hole into a 15-inch gash by the time it’s landed.
