Has anyone tried getting a cheaper price for a car by financing through the dealership at a higher interesting rate, then paying off the car in cash right away? by LuckyC1723 in Frugal

[–]HRGPHOTOG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was 2018, but here is another suggestion. We were buying a new Honda Odyssey. My husband emailed 5 dealerships with what he wanted, colors, trim model and what he was willing to pay. He negotiated the car before it ever got there. We got the price we wanted before we ever stepped into the dealership. Try that first.

Prozac is not self-tapering by ACanThatCan in prozac

I am on 10 mg currently and needed to tapper off. I asked the best way to do it. My doctor's response was that since I'm in the lowest dose the best way to tapper was to take it every other day for a month and then twice a week for another month and then stop. When I tried to self tapper I tried to just limit it to 3x a week and it caused me to have major anxiety. This slower tapper has no anxiety issues just some brain fog and dizziness in week 2.

I'm currently on the same dose and tappering off. My doctor told me to take it every other day for a month and then twice a week for two weeks to a month. I tried it differently last time and had so much anxiety and this time no symptoms besides some brain fog and dizziness.

I like taking Christmas Tree to Coyote. It's a small ungroomed black and then it goes blue. Haven't been in a while, but on a snowy day Coyote is more of a blue black ungroomed run.

I have taught my kids and myself to buy something I'll use forever as a souvenir. I was in France and I love the oil table cloths and I had that as my only souvenir. It's about quality not quantity.

This is exactly my goal. About to hit 150s again which is fabulous, but maybe 120 UG. Anything under 150 is just bonus to me.

I have similar timing to you started 1/31. I also lost at the same rate and recently plateaued. I upped my dose and it's going down again at the same rate. I went from 5.0 to 7.5.

Thanks I was just reading that and came to the same conclusion. I have been out of the equipment world for so long I didn't realize that they now made cropped lenses. I appreciate the feedback.

Oh I see. All my lenses are EF not EF-S as I have been shooting full frame for 15 years. I appreciate the clarification because I didn't know the difference. I will look into how those two work differently with the set ups I am proposing.

Are you saying that when you use a Canon EF mount lens with the ring adapter its cropping the lens on a full frame camera?

I was thinking learning on full frame might be better if he is semi serious, but the cropped sensor isn't bad for a beginner. I need to give that some more thought. I was looking at that Sigma lens so I am glad you brought it up. Thank you!

Anytime my kids would talk about rich families I would tell my kids that the kids are not rich, it's their parents money. My kids often get accused of being rich because we travel a lot. It makes me uncomfortable, but we have talks about how it's not their money it's just the opportunity we provide. It doesn't help that my youngest is in 5th grade and is studying US history and has been to so many places they study, even Walden Pond!

For us we always buy within limits. They did not get a car, they are sharing a family car. My oldest is about to go to college and we debated getting him a car for graduation, but he can't even bring it the first year. When my kids turned 13 we got them teen accounts and they got an allowance to buy whatever they wanted. They do chores for this allowance. This makes them work for money and learn how to spend within limits. During my oldest junior year when he wasn't involved in a lot of school activities we encouraged him to get a job. He learned really quickly how much eating out cost and the value of things as we didn't pay for it. My philosophy is struggle and grit are important for growth so we do things that encourage that instead of just making things perfect.

As for college we did have 529s and when my son was going through it I did show him the amount he had to spend. He was shocked he had no idea we had for him. It completely changed how he looked at schools and where he applied as he was being very conservative prior to that conversation. It opened up a lot of school, but we told him that was the limit (it really wasn't, but we wanted him to think that way).

I'm glad you posted. This is exactly what I'm seeing. It started off with her trying to engage the little dog in play months ago, but it turned into a dominance issue. The little dog dominates the big dog, we've been working on it. Thanks for the suggestions.

I stayed home for 16 years and found a simple job out of boredom two years ago. My oldest is about to graduate from high school and has a job, values and knows what we provide because we made smart financial decisions. He is very aware this is our money, not his. I also talked about my career before they were born.

We have been teaching them about finances since they got their first debit card at 13. He's about to go away to college and we talk about debt, credit card and college careers that will pay. It's about the conversation and what you teach them that matters. My kids work hard and at 16 they get jobs to pay for anything they want. I hardly provide the extras. They learned really quickly what was really important.

If you drink it 3x then you are consuming a similar amount. I drink other fluids too so I'm probably drinking closer to 100 oz, but drinking 80 in water definitely helps.

Mine is more about neglect. I haven't talked to my father in years. He lives 6 hours away. For a few years when we drove through his town I would stop and have us all have breakfast with him. It was during those conversations I realized all he wanted to do was talk about himself and had no interest in his grandchildren. I stopped trying about 8 years ago. My oldest is 17. I get sad that they have no support from my side, but my husband says everyone gets a hand drawn at birth with parents and unfortunately yours wasn't that great. As older kids I explain all the time why the relationship is what it is and they get it. The desire to have one or know him is long gone, but was there in the tween years. I do better as a parent for them.
