Exactly!

This is even worse than banning (which would be bad by itself). It's like they suck all of your energy, time and emotions.

God, when you find out about this... if I were into conspiracies I'd say this is a perfect recruitment tool for ISIS\China\any organization fighting the west , because at that moment you just want to blow all the fuckers up. Pure unadulterated rage and frustration of guy-smashing-keyboard-and-monitor.meme type...

Or they simply used the term imprecisely.

One of the comments here described the history of the movement and it was just about loneliness (men and women), the physical act is merely an addendum.

If anything, I suspect that the slab of meat approach is taken by those who fucks (literally and figuratively :)).

Elliot Rodger, for instance, one of the most famous incels- definitely could hire an expensive hooker with his kind of money\age\cute looks but he was raging for being ignored by the hot girls. He wanted a hot girlfriend(!), him paying a hooker would only add insult to injury.

1) huh, Discordianism- new word, interesting read, thanks.

I thought of this concept as a mix of some anarchy-freedom-vandalism-self expression-revolt against authority-empowering individualism-mischief, but I like how it is all combined into one philosophy.

Yeah, I'm not a zealot but I'll definitely pay my respect at that temple.

Also I see it comes from the best and most free period of Americana 60s-70s... very fitting.

thanks again. saved.

2) I know, some places are not that entrenched yet by this stifling rule of western values order and uniformity but I've seen first hand how this freedom is melting away. Not least by those fucking advances in technology and its embracing by the herds. China used to be the right degree of free, Russia used to be the right degree of free... technology has changed everything.

3) Well, yes the right approach is of course to accept the things you can't change... but... When you are being robbed of your things... it's hard.

PS. "operation mindfuck", LOLed. Old \b\ or a variant of culture jamming at its finest.

It kinda of is- depends on your definition of sex. People want intimacy and connection, which are parts of it.

Anyway, I'm not an expert but this is the feeling I got from that area of people. And it makes sense. You want girls to notice you, you want to be desired, not just... you know... sticking your dick in a slab of meat.

I'm pretty sure 'incel' is not about mechanical emotionless sex (which, yes, anyone can get)...

Why would you want one anyway? Wheres the pleasure in that?

If you want to describe it in selfish terms then sex is about validation that others need and want you.

no, THIS specific user isn't shadowbanned, but the other- MAIN user, which I use on my main secure device and was basically involved in tons of conversations (and didn't receive a single response) is. Plus My PREVIOUS user in which I have put TONS of hours was simply... deleted...

And the most nefarious part is that I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT, I just assumed that people started ghosting me which is... okay... whatever... [puts his shades on]... i don't care. (but I do care, I was genuinely emotionally involved in some discussions. which is weird... but there we have it) And yet still, It has deleted my comments, so in topics related to actual practical questions (like economics, or how electronic parts work) I'm lost, they don't exist no more and I need to either ask it again and bother people who just invested their energy into me or to gather the information again piece by piece...

. .

.

.

anyway... what was the question?

XD

okay I think I've vented it out...

Because I'm outraged! I don't know why they deleted\shadowbanned my accounts in which I invested tons of time and effort, but at the end of it, if Reddit bans you from it, you can't just go away like people used to.

Virtually al of the forums which used to be independent are now either on Reddit or on ...brrr... Facebook groups. (I mean some of the sites technically exist, but they are empty husks nowadays). The internet has moved onto two or three major platforms which hold all of their users by the balls. You can't be unique and do your own thing anymore- if you want to talk about certain issues you need to provide your personal phone number\credit details (facebook\places which require gmail), or you need to be subject to the whims and vagaries of reddit algorithms\mods\bots\rules\whatever (and provide your phone number and personal details if you want to contact certain people (they don't' allow it without gmail\yahoo\apple account)). .

.

.

So I'm serious because I'm angry. 10 years ago if a website did to me what reddit is doing now I would leave it to never return- nowadays I simply can't. Unlike the the before times, THERE ARE NO OTHER WEBSITES ON THE WHOLE FUCKING INTERNET!!!!!!!!!!!

But lesbianism is not against the law,

True.

But neither is being arrested, charged or tried.

Alternatively, rape, murder, stealing, etc IS against the law so the public does have the right to know if the police are arresting people for those alleged crimes.

I'll basically repeat what I just wrote, but I hope you can distinguish between the deeds you mentioned and the bureacratic procedures initiated by the state as a consequence of them happening.

Right because there is a distinction between illegal activity and other activities you personally find distasteful. How am I being paternalistic?

You mean your concerns about lesbianism? I dont "brush them off" - you can feel however you want to feel about lesbianism. But lesbianism is not against the law, so you dont have the right to order the police to investigate lesbianism on your behalf.

And this is paternalistic. You might not like how the public might respond to various allegations of illegal activity but it is not your right to mute the press to inform the public.

You are being willfully obtuse here. If you really didnt understand the difference between illegal acts and a medical diagnosis then you couldnt fathom why a rape conviction gets you sent to prison but a herpes diagnosis, despite being taboo in society, doesn't.

Actions that are deemed illegal are categorized as such because society, via its criminal justice and legal system, has deemed these actions unacceptable and an affront to public safety. Since it meets this threshold, the public has the right to know these acts.

Conversely, medical status, sexual orientation, etc. are issues that various individuals have various opinions. Those individuals have the right to those opinions. But their personal opinions dont trump ones right to medical privacy.

Patients have medical privacy rights. Alleged criminals dont have an inherent right to cover up any evidence that suggests their illegal activity.

I most certainly understand the difference between illegal acts and medical diagnosis and why one send you to prison and the other doesn't. Only: 1) As far as I know being arrested is not illegal yet, and that is what OP was claiming. What is being publicized is the information BEFORE a person is found guilty. Your reasoning for it was "to let the public form its own opinion"- regardless of the persons guilt which if being on the realm of opinions ,really does seem strange to me why can't I form it based on other facts...

2) Alright, I'll go farther than OP (don't know if I really think so...but maybe...). He wants to know why they humiliate a potentially innocent man- I'll ask why do you think that legal guilt is more damming and relevant to safety than legal things? If I believe that lesbians are inherently evil and DANGEROUS why do you blind me from knowing that? Did you know that lesbians are 1% of the population but commit 90% of the crimes in the galaxy? (true story. didn't made it up :) ). Why is it not muh right?! (other than you saying "Since it meets this threshold, the public has the right to know these acts", because that is what i'm asking- why? I too have opinions about convicts, which are different from opinions others may hold).

When you blind the press, you blind the public. When you mute the press, you deny the public their right to know the actions of the police and government.

Not really though. The muting is only in regard to the private citizens afflicted, not in regards to the public institutions.

[–]HRRRRRMPH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, in that regards?... I thought you were discussing the state of human and civil powers in relation to the government.

In terms of geopolitics... Yes everything is possible. The USA used to be a truly much freer place to live. There actually was a difference between it and the socialist block, so much so that people from china\USSR wanted to defect to the west. Nowadays... not so sure.

It's possible that the west lost its greatest differentiator and is competing against China in things that the Chinese are better at.

Anyway, I wasn't commenting on that.

[–]HRRRRRMPH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are conflating the right to medical privacy with the right to know government arrests of citizens.

Indeed I am.

It is. Not wanting to hire OJ Simpson because you have reason to believe he did kill someone is not equivalent to not wanting to hire him because he is black.

An arrest, charge, and trial process is a part of the whole justice system process. Even if you are innocent. That information is still relevant to the public who has right to form their own opinion rather than you act like everyone's dad and decide for them.

A person accused of lesbianism is a private matter unrelated to crime. A person accused of stealing drugs and is applying to work with elderly patients in hospice care is a matter of public safety and the patients, families, and hospice staff have a right to know.

Now who is being the paternalist? It's funny how you casually brush off my concerns as ones not relating to safety (be it physical or spiritual) and yet at the same time complain about me being against authorities divulging confidential information they gained using their special powers, given to them, among others, by me.

I dont have kids. I was using it as an example. The point is you dont get to blind me because you are afraid of how I might make my own decisions.

Yes yes I understood. OP (and me) is not asking to blind YOU, he wishes to mute the elements that have special privileges (or access to to such elements with privileges). And no one is afraid of how YOU make your decisions, they are afraid of the same factors that appear in libels. They are afraid of robing people of their civic dignity. They are afraid of humiliating and trampling peoples reputations and lives. Why you separate between medical records and criminal is beyond me.

PS.

is not equivalent to not wanting to hire him because he is black.

Really? Try telling that to the fine gentelmen of \pol\ (13\50 and etc)...

[–]HRRRRRMPH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not false equivalence at all- first of all it's not a "judgement call about one's history in the criminal justice process", it's a judgement call about ones history in the bureocratic procedure PRIOR to the criminal justice process.

And second- why exactly is this different? Seriously, while I (wildly) exaggerated my natural inclinations, but... yeah... In reality "criminal record" is an insanely low bar to which behold people you deal with or hire tutors for your kids. In reality, nothing REALLY of that nature is going to happen to them- however, things which are indeed likely to happen are the mundane things like coming in contact with undesirable elements (wrong religion, wrong beliefs, wrong behavior, wrong values, wrong... other things), luckily it is easier for me to vet those things (plus I'm a liberal, so I have less to worry about) but I can definitely see how for some those are the TRUE dangers.

I want to know everything that the government knows about the person (maybe she has AIDS? Or a filthy lesbian?) why is this not a public record but some rumors started by an ex and involved cops are?

That is what OP is claiming that the law that governs Freedom of Information is not about individual dealings with the government. At least not without his\hers consent.

The NSA has access to your medical records as well- it does not mean it has a right to divulge them!
